Headlamp Alignment

I line my cars up with a wall or garage door, having the car about 3 - 4 meters away. Measure the center of the headlights to the ground & tape the same level on the wall or door (making sure the tape does not pull paint off!). The distance between the high beam points on the wall should be the same distance as the headlight width (center to center) & the center point should be aligned with the center point of the car.

Hi Beam then is adjusted to be on that line in the direct ahead position. (2 & 4 headlamp systems)

You will notice that when you dip the headlamps (going from high to low), the beam will go down & to the left. That is correct. If it goes down & to the right, you have the US headlamps (LHD) still in the car. When on low beam & the car is a 4 headlamp model, then the outer 2 are the only ones lit.

All headlights should have two fine thread screws for adjustment. 1 aligns the vertical and the other the horizontal.

To confirm you like that setting, go out to a darkened road & check both high & low beams while sitting in the drivers seat.
