Yes.
Electronic dizzy will improve starting and performance but you need a 12 volt feed to the coil for it to work properly, unless you are installing a Mallorey Unilite which will work off the resistor wire already in your car (if it has the original loom).
If you get the ignition wire upgraded then you will need to we wire the tacho.
not that difficult for an auto electrician who knows about these cars.

Regards, Jim.

Hmmmm, taco's Drool . You've just made up my mind what to have for dinner. Thumbs Up

There will be a wire on the negative side of the igntion coil that will go to the points & then another that'll probably go back into the engine loom. That's your tacho wire & just make sure ti goes back onto the negative side of whatever coil system you end up using.

(PRAYER) Oh thank you Wild Turkey American Honey & Cola in those small thin bottles, for giving me the strength to act like a half wit, and say stupid things at inappropriate times, semi-anonymously, on a public forum.
Amen.

Taco's..........................maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn do i love both varieties!!!

As for the tacho wiring. Your factory ford tacho will not work with an electronic distributor of any sort, except Pertronix.

The early Tacho's are wired in series on the power feed to the coil. I.e the wiring goes... Battery -> ign switch -> tacho ->coil It works by sensing voltage drop each time the coil charges.

The early Tacho however can be converted to run on and electronic distributor. I don't know of any companies in Syndey, but Ringwood Speedo's in Melbourne do the conversion to the stock tacho for around $150.

It comes down to what you want......

Stock look. Pertronix (no tacho mod AFAIK)

Reliability. Chinese bosch copy, with a genuine bosch module fitted

Performance. Take your pick, many brands out there, all designed to eat your dollars.

Cheers
Jas
