Hi,

Now I've got my home made stack injection working well on the 289 I've started my 347 Build.

Lots of Pics:

Cage you know the feeling..... I do as well - its great.

Luke, Interesting set of parts. Two things stood out to me
1) Its not bad infact it is great though not necessary for a street engine - so why the shaft rocker assembly? I like to understand your choice.
2) The Cam is a custom grind using XE flat tapped cam profiles - why a flat tappet grind - how did you choose the cam lobes for the grind? Just want to understand your logic applied in the choices.

Every thing looks great - I look forward to more pictures as you build the engine and then put the great home developed 8 Stack on top. What you have done is great so no doubt its going to be fantastic.

I will someday think of something clever to say.

The grind was decided by comp cams to suit the injection style and compression ratio. As you know this is a DD so I didn't want to go nuts and end up hating it while sitting in traffic.

The LGM shaft rockers were about the same price as high end conventional stud rockers and I just feel they are more set and forget.

I got the heads from Keith Craft. Notice they were shipped in Edlbrock E Street boxes Smile

Great service but the heads are an unknown quantity as yet.

Thanks - nice heads for sure. Makes perfect sense as far as the shaft rockers - very nice choice.

I am on the fence with he Cam choice. It is certainly not what I would have chosen as I would never select a flat tappet cam these days. Having said that, it will be interesting to how it turns out for you.

Bring on the build pictures.

Those heads will be fine they are similar to what most of the QLD Trans-am cars run.

So the cam is degreed, heads are on, the shaft rockers are spot on in the centre of the valve without shimming.

Now I just need to order some pushrods, and spark plugs and I'll be ready to start the swap.

The instructions that came with the short block from Dart said to use break in oil for 600miles than switch to full synthetic. I plan to do that on the first weekend!!

So pushrod length.

I've set the pushrod length checker and I get an actual length of 6.100. This is in about the middle of the adjustment range for the rockers.

If I've got this right by the comp cams doco I have the following measurements:

Actual 6.100
Theoretical 6.125
gauge 6.066

From what I can see on the comp cams site their pushrod start at a gauge length of 6.200 which doesn't help me at all.

The shaft rockers have a lot of adjustment in them but I'm unsure if they'll cope with .133" too long.
