Hey Hybrid, I used a digital level on them, they were out of level by less than 1 degree.

Well I have come across a major issue/problem.
Based on a number of awesome builds on this forum I thought I would be able to get my planned modifications certified for legal street use.
I purchased a Street or Track 3 link suspension kit and one of there Watts Link kits as well (photos are in early posts on this thread)
I had booked a meeting with a certifier but the covid lock downs meant I couldn't see him until late last week.
The bad news - He says no to me wanting to use the street or Track stuff without even looking at it.
I am devastated to say the least.
I know its my bad for not checking before buying.
I still find it amazing that cars far more modified than mine can get certified, and I know some are in other states but the VSCCS scheme is a national scheme so what am I doing wrong, I have totally lost interest in this now.
Anyway, enough of a winge.
Thanks
Ray

Hi Ray,
I have heard plenty of stories about one engineer saying no and others being fine with it.
Just looking at that kit, I don't see why that would be an issue. Did the engineer give you any details?

I would try elsewhere.
I have a mate who literally a couple of months ago had some big rear end mods engineered on a 66.

Here is someone you can try:

Good luck!

Thanks Hybrid,
I am going to give another local a go but If that doesn't work I will try them, the rules are so complex and it comes down to interpretation by the certifier. He also said it hasn't been tested, funny thing is I thought that was his job.

I would agree with hybrid.

Keep talking to various engineers until you find one that actually is interested in viewing your build and the specs on what you have to install.

Bosskraft's build a few years back regarding a 429 Hemi into a 67 was ok'd in principle by his engineer

Who is the engineer you're trying to use?
My mate also just used a guy named Rob Elliot in Rossmore NSW 0403 328 574

He put McDonalds Brothers 4-Link in his 66, tubbed, custom chassis connectors etc.
The engineer can be slow to answer the phone, so send him a text if you want to contact him.

Thanks Hybrid,
I will see how this guy goes, I would prefer to keep it local if I can, Rossmore is a couple of hours south of me but if I have no luck I will try one of your suggestions,
Cheers

Seat pan welded in, from the top anyway, still needs to be rosette welded from underneath when I get the car onto a rotisserie

Hi Ray,
If you're looking at how to modify, there's probably some threads about that on the forum.

Not sure if you're on fb but here are some good photos of the dash conversion s done by Image Classic Cars here in SA:

I have done a few, but not as many as 67/8 cars.

Your biggest issue (if using the original instrument bezel and glove box) is that they are taller in the center than they are at each end (when in LHD configuration) so when swapping them you have to play around with the lower edge of the dash metal to get them looking decent.

At one stage (when I was living in the USA) I had contacted a mob that produced CNC dash bezels and they could flop the image to produce a mirror of the LHD one. The issue was the glove box lid.

The dash metal is easy. Move the heater control hole and the lower switch panel (with the steering mount) to the opposite side.

One more trick. You can use a 67/8 pedal box as the plenum/firewall was hardly changed in those years. The area where the master cylinder is bolted changed a little as did where the pedal box mounted to the lower dash. The overall dimensions of the pedal boxes were the same. By using the 67/8 pedal box, it allows you to use a power brake pedal.
