Re: XF arms and spindles into a 70
So this is the difference in height. May explain why a bunch of spacers was in the LH upper arm. https://i.postimg.cc/8CjLxzdJ/IMG-2254-1.jpg Not even the same style of upright https://i.postimg.cc/SRwPYPyV/IMG-2256-1.jpg At least they used Ford uprights. Any clues what they are? https://i.postimg.c...

Re: XF arms and spindles into a 70
These are what we were using a few years back for both road and track. http://www.totalcontrolproducts.com/spindle.html $419 a pair is pretty good value for new stuff. I made an executive decision last night to go with a full XF front end. Based on Ants report I will deal with any bump steer - it's...

Re: XF arms and spindles into a 70
I'd put some pictures up if it were simple. What is the issue you are having? Looks like you need to use photobucket? I'm just miserable and don't want to pay the monthly fee, especially when I already have a photo host website (I don't want to link to that as it is more family-orientated and I don...

Re: XF arms and spindles into a 70
Well, it now gets worse. Pulled the front apart this arvo and I have a RH spindle higher than the LH spindle. About 10mm difference. They are also different design. I'd put some pictures up if it were simple. I spent some time searching but nothing tells me i should have a RH spindle higher than the...

Re: XF arms and spindles into a 70
Thanks Ants. Pulled it all down last night and realised the alloy calipers have their own bracket. Rookie mistake. Also has what looks like XA rotors; small hub large outer bearing. I may grab the lower arms as well. Mine may need inner bushes as well so I may as well build the whole thing from dono...

XF arms and spindles into a 70
I've spent some time looking at this over different forums, and wanted to make sure what I think is true, is true. For my '70 I need a new LH top arm as the Made in Indonesia one is crap and squeaking. I may as well do the rest of the front while I am there. So, my shopping list is XF top arms XC, X...

Re: Good quality parts
Electrical items. I found this place in Seven Hills, and they supply no-name items but are as good as what you get from the shops. https://autoandmarine.com.au/index.php?route=common/home http://www.larpro.com.au/larpro/Home I've bought cable, terminals, sockets, heat shrink, tape, solder, fuses, re...

My thoughts as well. Some of their stuff is good, I've used a few AN fittings with no hassle.

Re: Falcon speedo into a '70?
Well an XB speedo won't fit without a bit of mucking around. Too deep by a smidge, the mount screws are the opposite to Mustang and the face is a bit too big.
But, it only cost 60 bucks to find this out
Anyone rebuilding an XB Falcon??

Re: Brakes
Put in the proportioning valve. I spent a lot of time and money chasing rear brakes locking.
I now have a valve, wind it off, no more rear brake locking. Probably feck all rear brakes but enough was enough.
It's got me beat why these things lock rear brakes, surely they didn't do it from new.

Re: Removed the alternator warning light and now it's overchargi
Update. Old alternator was NFG, passing power through at the rate of about .2v per minute. Explains the battery being flat. Off to Rocket, buy a new 100 amp Aeroflow unit. Aeroflow alternators may be made for Fords, but not LHD ones. The terminals now sit on the inside of the alternator and the main...
