Re: Finally - the Bullitt begins! :-)

Back home again and finally finished that RHS toe board and front floor replacement. Tried some Sikaflex 527 AT sealant this time. Seems the same as the 227 I used before, albeit the label implies it has a longer shelf life. Good idea that, I’ve had unopened tubes of 227 go hard barely a year after ...

Re: Finally - the Bullitt begins! :-)

Thanks Kerry, it's still appreciated. However I'm not sure what you mean by those dimensions. Did you mean the width of the mounting section of the drip rails? The flat bit of panel where the drip rails get spot welded into the door frame / roof? What I was after was something like a rubbing / traci...

Re: Finally - the Bullitt begins! :-)

Been a while! COVID took me out of action for 2 years. Slowly back in to it now. Had to wait even longer after that silliness stopped too, as the farm and home had lots of jobs that needed to be done after so much time away. I'm still away 20 days a month with the post COVID job (same employer) but ...

Re: Request for help - 68 Fastback rain drip rail corner profile

Thanks Kerry, Yes I've seen that on other cars and the repop drip rails on line. However mine have definitely been trimmed down quite a lot compared to the others I've seen. I'd rather build them back at least some of the way towards OEM before I paint the thing... It wouldn't be nice to fit the sta...

Request for help - 68 Fastback rain drip rail corner profile

I just noticed that someone has "trimmed" the back corners of both my 68' fastback's drip rails. Presumably to make fitting the polished stainless moldings easier.. However they have gone a bit overboard IMHO. Apart from that bit of minor vandalism, the rails themselves are fine, no rust a...

Pertronix 3 with a SAAS tachometer...

I fitted a suite of new SAAS gauges to my engine test stand. This included their 3.5" tacho. Looks great! I've been running my built 390 FE on it for a while and the Pertronix 3 / flamethrower system works well. Quick starts, runs nicely. Timing is fine. Strong spark. Yippee. Problem is it make...

Fender Apron VIN stamps...

I'm away from home, trapped in BNE thanks to QLD health declaring all of VIC a hotspot! So I can't just go and look and my own 68' nor a mates cars in Riddells Creek, to answer this one. A mate was asking me the length of my fender apron VIN stamps. His 68's 2 VIN stamps differ in length. One has th...

Re: Vale Ian Jackson (Ausjacko)

Sorry to read that. A surprise indeed. Never met the man but had lots of chats with him. Always helpful and friendly. First Mert, then Boof and now this... And neither Mert (Richard) nor Ian looked like the kind of guys you'd suspect of dying any time soon. Makes one grateful for each day...

Re: 67 / 68 tail light upgrades?

The bulbs were supplied and are a higher wattage than normal. I can't recall the exact numbers but they are brighter in the stop circuit than the 'normal' ones. It's only the centre bulb that is the issue but that sits a bit closer to the lens in the one I have (which I think is the Scott Drake ver...

Re: 67 / 68 tail light upgrades?

I was only talking about a flasher unit designed for LED's. Or an in line resistor to eliminate the need for such.
I presume hes talking voltage because he wants to equalize or manipulate the amount of illumination for each function? Using resistors for each LED would do the same trick I imagine.

Re: 67 / 68 tail light upgrades?

I have the 3 bulb setup already, but they have already rated to melt the middle lens. Perhaps an LED bulb will reduce this due to lower heat? Thats useful as I was wondering what type of bulbs they use in the 3 bulb kit. Are they the standard 1157 8/27w bulbs used in the OEM single bulb unit? If so...
