67 / 68 tail light upgrades?

Hi again, from my COVID quarantine cell in Darwin! Soon to transfer to another cell in Brisbane! It matters not that we are vaccinated, tested every few days, and operating in a "COVID bubble". We are all criminals it seems! The joys of aviation in this COVID age! :-) Anyway to fill in my ...

Re: Finally - the Bullitt begins! :-)

Well on the topic of those dodgy door cards, Distinctive never did send a replacement set as they claimed they would. Been 14 months+ now so I think its fair to say I won't ever see them. Guess who I won't be choosing next time... Anyway finally home for a few weeks after a long time away. So I got ...

Re: Coolant for 65 mustang

I run straight water with corrosion inhibitor because that's what the Natrad boss said. He said straight water has the best coolant properties, just needs anti-corrosion to protect the various metals in the motor. Unless you live in Canberra, I'd say he's spot on. From a thermodynamics view its imp...

Re: How much vacuum do you need?

Update: So after 9.5 months away I was finally allowed to go home for a few weeks. Finished the engine test stand and ran the motor. Went well. Started easy, no leaks, good oil pressure etc. Anyway the lowest steady warm idle I got was around 840 RPM. At that I was getting 9-10" of vacuum. At 1...

Re: Be careful buying a Blueprint motor from Rocket Industri

To be fair mungus, the cost of rebuilding an aviation engine probably allows for that return/warranty period as well. They are seriously expensive. Possibly some of it, but also to be fair, aviation engines rarely break. And its the culture that determines that. We don't tolerate BS products and th...

Re: Be careful buying a Blueprint motor from Rocket Industries

All true. I have found that the better companies value their reputation enough that they are happy to back date the date of warranty commencement to entry into service, not date of payment. I've had dud components replaced in that way before. They know that especially these days, the web can badly d...

Re: Veterans Raffle for replica Shelby 67' Fastback

Would love to know how much actually makes it back to the charity. Its run by a Brisbane business called RaffleTix. It seems they organise and advertise raffles for any "legit" cause that approaches them, and take a profit from it. The charity that signs them up obviously gets something b...

Re: Veterans Raffle for replica Shelby 67' Fastback

Another Mustang veterans raffle. And another interesting valuation.... A tidy base 1967' C code / 289 FB and a 2018 GT, that looks like it might be a Bullitt, not sure. https://www.raffletix.com.au/?ref=c4m4y&sref=8fx6s4ax Both Mustangs look like they would be fun, but I was curious about a mild...

Re: Exhaust choices...

Thanks Kerry, food for thought.

I do like ring / V clamps, just adds a few $ and takes some more work having to TIG them on, and "proper" precision fitting compared to standard exhaust clamps over swaged joints. But we'll see how I feel when the time comes.

Re: Exhaust choices...

Thanks Jacko. Yes I've seen a couple of guys in the states used Hooker headers and they managed to get them in, albeit only just and with a couple of paint rubs. I chose the FPA headers as they were recommended as being the best fitting by a few big block Mustang guys in the states. I'm planning on ...

Re: Exhaust choices...

Looks nice. Seems black is a common choice these days. Not long ago everyone wanted the shiny stainless or aluminum look. I've got Boof's (RIP) article on exhaust drone, but it doesn't really relate much to pipe sizes and muffler choices for a 390/428. Being a 390 I went with FPA headers, as they se...

Re: Exhaust choices...

Your mufflers are probably the same spec as a few classic Mustang performance dual systems I've seen in my web searches recently. Typically 4 x 9 x 14", 2.5" pipes, and offset IN and centre OUT. Curved straight through types, (not chambered) with stainless & fibre packing. its is the s...
