Re: Edz 66 Convertible

Looking at the wiring diagram you posted, the yellow wire (460) picks up 12v power from the light switch. That is probably the contract you shorted to earth and in turn ble the fuse. When you press the horn pad power passes through the the pad to the other contact, power then goes through the second...

Re: temp sender

Don't know the part number but my engine came out of an XB Falcon and my temp gauge appears to be accurate with the XB sensor. Try Repco or Bursons, I'm sure they would still have a listing for XB Falcon.

Re: 429 BOSS

I'd have to sell my left kidney & right nut just to buy it. Then the wife would divorce me if I bought another project. The last one took me 26 years to do, wife kept saying if it's not finished by Christmas she was leaving. After 25 years I realized she wasn't going anywhere so i finished it. 😦😦

Re: C4 to AOD/E. Benefits?

I was going to put in a TKO600 but am thinking now I can't be bothered (anyone want a full 1970 TKO600 gearbox conversion?) quote] 18 Months ago I would have jumped at that, but now after being on Historic Rego for 2 years I've realized how little I'm driving it now and couldn't justify the expense...

Re: Edz 66 Convertible

I probably went a bit far saying the rod comes out glowing red, long time since I was there when he was doing a set of pistons & rods. This is the type of heating unit he uses and you can see the blue on the rod after it's done. May not be as blue as the rods in edz pictures but it shows the pro...

Re: Edz 66 Convertible

Those heat marks are normal. A mate of mine has a machine shop and he puts the little end in an electric furnace and gets the metal glowing red, the gudgeon pin just falls in and after it's centred he puts it aside to cool down and contract around the pin.

Re: XF arms and spindles into a 70

Can't remember exactly what I did, did it to long ago. All I can tell you is that these are the bush kits that I used.
Cut a little off the tube/sleeve to crush the bush up tighter.

Re: That old chestnut - steering conversion for RHD

What about sending the current steering box to a reputable recondioner? If the box is worn they can hard chrome it. If done properly it will probably never need doing again. Most other steering and suspension parts I would think would be readily accessible.

Re: XF arms and spindles into a 70

I have all of the above fitted to mine for the same reason (to prevent the suspenion squeak). I also fitted the lower control arms and radius rods. Also did the Selby Drop. I would doubt that the alloy calipers will fit to the cast caliper brackets. So you may as well get the full setup from the ute...
