Finally - I found great 7in DRL lights for a good price!
I've had halo's on for about 6 years but most of the eBay lights have a terrible beam pattern. I finally found 2 that work with good DRL and great beam. I was about to outlay AU$400 on Stedi lights which have a guaranteed good light output and rave reviews but I came across an eBay light I bought fo...

Re: Posting photos with GPS data attached (Prevention tutorial)
I know this is an old post, but I thought I'd post an update as I wrote this for Facebook recently. Security and posting your personal info online. Did you realise that if you take photos on your phone, it defaults to show your location info which is not good if you're away from home or even at home...

Re: Edz 66 Convertible
So, I bought an EA ute diff today to try to adapt the discs to my rear end. This is it minus the callipers as I removed them and tried to get the discs off but ended up talking it all home to do it at home as it was getting dark. https://i.ibb.co/0c5y7Hv/Au-disc-brake-diff.jpg I figured if I have to...

Re: Fitting electric steering assist
Yes, I saw that in your post, but you said you stopped fitting it (I think) because you were worried about dash strength?

Re: hybrids 1966 Coupe Project
The only welding on the brackets is a tack weld to hold the spacer in place which is then clamped between the two plates. Other than that they are bolted. The round plate has 4 high tensile 10mm or 3/8 bolts into the stub axle, the calliper bracket uses 12mm high tensile bolts to hold it to the roun...

Re: Edz 66 Convertible
So I've bought some electric power steering units to play with and will look at giving the old girl EPS since I have to get it engineered anyway soon. I'm going to see how much torque it takes to turn the current wheel as i have conversion figures before and after to compare. Then I'll wire up the e...

Re: Edz 66 Convertible
So I think I finally fixed my overheating and I've been getting out driving it a bit more. I'll have to try and find tyres stickier than my Dunlop SP sports, they can't handle the torque of the stroker. I looked at track tyres, but they need a couple of laps to warm up and would probably be even wor...

Re: hybrids 1966 Coupe Project
I wouldn't mind making a pair of these. I have a mate who cuts stuff on a waterjet at work, he cut my 10mm 'big brake' adapter plates. These were the ones I 3d printed before cutting to make sure they fitted. https://i.ibb.co/bXTXzRs/Edz-3d-Brakes-printed-3.jpg I also have a $1m laser cutter just ne...

Re: Fitting electric steering assist
Yes, I've done a lot of reading, I think people underestimate the load on the dash when they remove the support provided at firewall where the column goes through. The other thing is, you must have a collapsible steering to get it engineered. The Yanks fit heaps of these with no thought to extra rei...

Re: Electric Power Steering
Can you enable CAN coming out of your Megasquirt (pins 3 & 4) and try to replicate some of the factory Toyota signal? I already have CAN being sent to an internal IO extender module. I might be able to tap into that and send RPM, but I wouldn't have speed. Maybe you can get speed from the gearb...

Cool, I'll come past for a cuppa next week when I'm back. I'll grab that old front bar too so I can fit the spoiler if that's ok?
