65 grill colour

Post by xpconnor »

Hi all

Just been doing a bit of research on the colour of the 65 grill. Seems to be a bit of conjecture out there but I understand it should be a greyish colour. I'm not doing a concourse resto but would like to get the paint colour close. Does anyone have a paint code or even a rattle can brand and colour that is close. The original grill off the car looks to be the incorrect colour and is in such poor condition you wouldn't match to it anyway. Any tips would be great.

It is an odd colour, a grey/blue but sorry I dont have a code. The best I can suggest is if possible go and look at a new one and go from there.

Thanks Nassi. I have got a new grill but it is in the black that most the reproduction panels come in nowadays. I will take the code from the link into my paint guy and see what he says.

Do you know how flat or matt the finish should be? Might be easier to just get the paint made up in a satin or matt and not bother with clear coat.

I have another question about paint colours. Just wondering if there is a code for the off white used on the 65 interiors? The colour of the dash in the photo below is what I am thinking of.
