Fuel usage is just like taxes, you have to pay but if you do not want to pay more than you need to. The strokers allow you to have the low rpm cruising happy days and the AOD/T5 allow gearing so you can burn off the lights for weekend thrills. Life is good.

Get an FE, then you don't care about fuel consumption (the E is definitely not for economy).

Build them bigger and slow them down is the go for sure that's a stroker.

For what it's worth, my car used to run happily at 1500 RPM at 110-120KPH on the highway. Ignition in, fuel out, happy days.
hybrid i gather that was the AOD with a 3.0 prior to your truetrac?

If standard it would have been either a 2.78 or 3.0 .

ok we'll call it 3 and a poofteenth jeff..
fwiw your previous rpm/kph figure will give me a rough idea of engine revs when i finally fit up my AOD, which will now be quite a while as she comes off the road this weekend for an engine rebuild. im going to keep the 3.0 rear until further fun vouchers for a 3.5 8" become available.

I think the AOD will be way too tall for a 3.0.

My old gears were definitely 3.25.

My combo is an AOD with the original 2.79 8". It is ridiculously tall. Think I'm doing 1600rpm at 100kmh. Got 3.8 gears ready to go in.
Cheers, Tony.

Assuming they are fine, save your 2.79 gears as you cannot buy them. Someone might what a set - I know I have directed people to the 3.0 as they can be purchased.

2 months for the kit to arrive.
2 hours to install it.

Rebuilt steering box.

I put a couple of o-rings down on the shaft to help keep crap out. Mine was previously a long shaft unit, so does not have the seal in it.
