65 coupe battery placement

Post by mjb0015 »

Just looking at the battery tray of my 65 coupe and only just noticed that the tray is against the fender inner guard, I checked on the net and every 65 I have seen has the battery lengthways against the radiator support.
Where there different placements of battery supports at different plants? mine was built at San Jose. I have found 67's with the battery positioned the same as mine.
Does anyone know why this would be?

Yes - someone changed it around. A common modification to allow larger (generally the later 390) radiator to be installed.

I have performed the same modification on my car.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

Ok yeh had a closer look and yeh the inner guard has been cut re-welded which I assume to once accommodate an after market radiator, thanks for the input fellas!!
