There is a color fast on the northside now as well. ROC is what they call their "value line" works fine, no comparison to Debeers at all, way better. Get the cutting compound from Waxit they will post it to you

Thanks Shaun. I'm actually closer to the Hillcrest store. I knock off work at lunchtime Friday's, So it may be a quick drive down to get some paint one Friday arvo. I saw they had epoxy primer and hi build in the genroc paint brand as well. Any opinion on those?
Thanks Shaun

There is a lesonal 2 pack epoxy etch which I like, and I generally buy the Sikkens Auto body classic, primer not cheap but great stuff I normally burn 8L min per car. I also like Dupont, now called Cromax 1040R primer, its great as well, you can mix it as a thick spray putty to a thin non sanding primer for wet on wet. Beware if you mix it as a putty with no reducer it has a pot life of 45 min, so dont mix to much. I buy this from Brisbane refinishing supplies at Acherfield. Again you want about 8L by the time you block it out and reprime a couple of times. The Guy that owns Colorfast is an old panel shop guy from way back, Dave one of the salesmen has being selling paint since the 80's I can remember him from Motorama when I was like 18.
If yo use the 1040R un thinned you need to spray it with a 2.0 tip in the gun, I then block it with 150 dry , reskim any lows and reprime block again, reprime again wet and thin as a surfacer 3 coats then 800 wet.

Thanks for the advice. The actual shell doesn't seem too bad, there's bog in both quarters where they've filled dents that'll take a bit of beating to sort out. The holes for the vinyl roof mouldings were just taped and bogged too. It looks like a backyard job a teenager would do on his first car.

I agree with ShaunP about the DeBeers, I just painted a
metallic blue with it and it is nearly impossible to make
it spray evenly, I tried every gun I've got, nearly drove me
mad, will not use it again.

We run Devilbis GTI guns. for colour and clear, its hard work, if you do a light drop coat you can get it close.

Nice to see others with a similar opinion to myself with debeers.
Its goats Piss.

The Cromax (formerly dupont) have some great products. Stay away from the 510 and 610 lines.
Their Imron Elite HDC line is very tough. Its a little harder to use and practice is reccomended. The clear isn't far off being a ceramic. I did my boat in this stuff, and its had more than 1 ski dropped on it without chipping
