The word "swims" upside-down is still "swims".

Nope, they are the fluro stripes that the Holdittogether (HDT) racing team used. The white is not as aggressive as those black nasties.

7 August 2016
Finished painting the stone guards. The enviro booth took a while to warm up and it was a day for two coats.

Scary stuff warning- glass

Finished the engine test stand (well put the wheels on) and was looking for bits to do. I was cleaning the bench and noticed the window rollers I had purchased a while back were still sitting there. Retrieved the rear quarter windows and familiarised myself with what needed doing.

Now, these windows have a stainless strip on the leading edge, no bigger there, and two steel plates ¾ of the way down the pane that attaches the rollers. Again no biggie to get that off. BUT, there is an odd roller secured with a round disc arrangement at the bottom of the pane.

Image

This looks tricky to get off, if for no other reason than it does not have a hex external pattern only two internal holes, as it is located in a lower part of the pane that looks like it may break if given half a chance. According to the www, a new lower swivel disc roller thingy is $64 each- yep, you read that right. Just checked the www again. One swivel roller is $46- I need six!

As I had just changed to a cutting disc on the grinder, I was familiar with the tool used to tighten and loosen the discs; you know the one with a handle and two pins- see where I am going here?

Grabbed the two handles I have and yep, the smaller of the two (pins closer together) fits perfectly into the disc washer that holds the roller in place. A spray and wait of WD40 and some firm but careful wrenching, and the disc came free. Love that! And what is better, the roller looks to be the size and thread as the others on the pane.
