1969 leaf springs

Before I purchase my 1969 Mustang the previous owner rebuilt the car including the rear suspension. Every time I sit in the the car I hear a large squeak coming from the rear . I'm guessing my rear leaf springs were not lubricated when they were replaced. Not really sure! Has anyone had this problem before and does anyone know how to fix it.

Could be a number of things. Including from the front.

Staying with the rear....

Start by loosening the bolts that hold the rear leafs front and back while the car is on the ground. Bounce it a little. Then bolt it back up.

Thanks Guys, In other words the bolts are to tight?

Not too tight, the bushings may be binding. If someone tightened them to full torque while the car was on stands or a 4 point hoist with the rear hanging, then dropped it to the ground the springs may be working against the bushing. So if you loosen it while on the ground, any binding of the bushing should ease up. Then torque her back up again.
Common problem with the lower control arm up front also.

No Ringo, it is not that they are too tight but they were probably tightened on a hoist. i.e. the suspension was not under load.
