It looks like I left a few HP on the Table!!!
Went to the FPV dyno run today and this is the result. So much for worrying about the fuel system not being up to it ?
So it was a stinking hot day (over 30c) and as well as an AFR of 10 there was also some detonation from a touch too much advance.

I would have thought it should have another 100 give it more fuel, before you touch the timing, you'll likly find it wont ping if its richer. Its a 347 right?

HI,
Look at the afr line. 10:1!!!! That's where all my HP went. It was blowing black smoke rings ?

Drowning it.
60 hP to find
60 hP to find
I will someday think of something clever to say.
Re: It looks like I left a few HP on the Table!!!
I took a datalog as well. No afr though as my LC-1 has packed it in.
He took it to 6200 which is the most the motor has ever seen. I knew I had it rich to protect it but didn't realise that much. Also I'm still on a 2 inch twin system with 1.5 primaries on the headers.
I've taken 3 degrees out of the adavnce and 20% out of the top right of the VE table so that should help.

Re: It looks like I left a few HP on the Table!!!
Oh sorry didnt notice the AFR, line, yep then it defiantly needs les timing as well. having it a 10 is not protecting it its washing the oil off the bores and diluting the oil. Dart block you can rev it past 6200., you need some 1-3/4 pipes, what heads and cam does it have?
Re: It looks like I left a few HP on the Table!!!
230/240 cam CNC Brodix heads. Yeah you can see where I had been tuning it it was a lot leaner.
Re: It looks like I left a few HP on the Table!!!
Yeah wow that afr line never stabilises does it, just keep getting richer and richer.lukep6470 wrote:230/240 cam CNC Brodix heads. Yeah you can see where I had been tuning it it was a lot leaner.
Does that dyno afr line match the target afr you have in your tune?
Re: It looks like I left a few HP on the Table!!!
Why dont you take it down to Justin at Horsepower solutions at Capalaba they know big HP V8 engines and even went to the US to help the Haltec guys with those Street outlaw guys. Get him to run it up and be done with it. Woody tunes all his Engines and Trans-am cars as well there. I fully plan to do this once I get mine close.lukep6470 wrote:230/240 cam CNC Brodix heads. Only the bottom end does. As I said it's never seen over 5000 before so it as all a (pretty bad) guess. Once I sort out my wideband I will do a few runs up a steep hill to tweak it some more before I try again.Husky65 wrote:Yeah wow that afr line never stabilises does it, just keep getting richer and richer.lukep6470 wrote:230/240 cam CNC Brodix heads. You can see up to 130kph is the region where I had already been tuning it. The guy running the dyno only had it at part throttle there and 14 matched the afr table.

Re: It looks like I left a few HP on the Table!!!
How much timing did you have in it?
Re: It looks like I left a few HP on the Table!!!
36, I've wound it back to 33.
Re: It looks like I left a few HP on the Table!!!
BTW it was a stinking hot day, at 9am the dyno said it was 29 in the shade. Corrected was 275 HP for me.
They had a couple of GTF Falcon's there. they pulled 480HP.

Re: It looks like I left a few HP on the Table!!!
OK so I got the wideband up and running again and did a few WOT pulls to 6500 going up a reasonable hill. It dropped the VE from 110 to 85 at peak. It now does a big 1-2 chirpy (More than my previous video).
I am now positive I've reached the limit of my exhaust system as the VE peaks at around 5000rpm and starts tapering off. That's about 1300rpm too low for this motor.
So my current system is a 2" mild steel twin system with Hedman 1.5 primary shorty headers. I've just ordered a 2.5 inch stainless Magnaflow and am still shopping around for headers (hopefully 1 3/4).
