So I blew the engine up in this one.
I think when I changed the cam, the toothed wheel moved on the balancer and the timing was out.
I think pre-ignition made my hypereutectic pistons disappear.
So I now have a new dart block sitting in the garage to make a 363 stroker.
No more parts until I pull the engine and assess the damage.
Not great timing because I also just added a friend that I'll make a different thread for.

SRS forged are cheap.

Mild Cruiser? It's a Mustang. Mustangs have to go hard!! 363 Cubes will do it nicely!!

I think the blower missed the memo. Mild cruiser. No such thing. The 363 will need lower gears. Bigger converter. Wider rear tyres. Bigger radiator. More fuelling. Then a gear vendors will be needed as the 0.750" cam with 353 degrees duration means the old 5.14's are too high.
Now you pull low 8's so you need a new cage. But traction is an issue so lets tub that biatch to get the 15" wide slicks in.
Slowly, your mind goes and you become a mindless dribbling vegetable as a result of 'just a bit more giddyup'.
But as you sit in your rocking chair you try desperately to scream as your wife sells the cruiser you can no longer drive for $25,000 as 'that's all it cost' over a 25 year period.
I have the same issue. My don't-care-what-size-cam-and-power-it-makes 347 now has a bigger cam, because, it's only a mild cruiser. But I put in a new driveshaft with 1350 yokes so I don't need to worry about it breaking.
Wonder if the clutch will stand up to a 6,250rpm start?

I guess the good news is I'm practically already a mindless dribbling mess, so I don't need to worry about that part.

While I wait for the new engine to be built, I've made another set of the adjustable engine mounts in our TechZone since I gave my other ones away.
I found a mob who watercut the plates for ~$170, which is not much more than it would have cost from the China contact I checked with. You could get them cheaper in bulk though.
They turned out pretty decent.

I wouldn't mind making a pair of these. I have a mate who cuts stuff on a waterjet at work, he cut my 10mm 'big brake' adapter plates.
These were the ones I 3d printed before cutting to make sure they fitted.
I also have a $1m laser cutter just near me, he cuts other things I make and is reasonable.
I'll get prices off both and let you know.

I don't think those brackets would be legal unless they aren't welded.
I'm about to replace the brakes on my coupe with a wilwood kit.
The old ones are a "big brake" kit, but one of the brackets has broken because it was welded.
You don't have a mate who does CNC as well do you?
I still have one good one they can copy and mirror for the other side.

The only welding on the brackets is a tack weld to hold the spacer in place which is then clamped between the two plates. Other than that they are bolted.
The round plate has 4 high tensile 10mm or 3/8 bolts into the stub axle, the calliper bracket uses 12mm high tensile bolts to hold it to the round plate.
We have a couple of cnc machinists in Canberra but no mates who do it, just laser and waterjet.

New short block is done. Just waiting on some parts to arrive to finish it off.
I've also decided to switch from megasquirt to Haltech, so lots of wiring to be done as well.
It's hard to beat a nice new engine shot.

Not sure if I mentioned this previously, but I'm switching over from Megasquirt to Haltech. I've spent the last week or so at night making a custom harness for it.
It's using a Deutsch bulkhead to go through the firewall.

Next I need to install it and make all the break out runs in the engine bay.
On the engine front, I've got the right length pushrods now, so I should be able to finish it off.

I use heat shrink at the end of the wrap. Looks much nicer than cable ties and keeps the braid from unbraiding.
