east coast US shipping

Post by Cruzn65 »

has anyone shipped a car from the east coast of the US? Most cars seem to leave from the west coast.... is it only because of the time it takes?

is it cheaper from the west coast?
Cheers

I would imagine anything from there would go to Europe first (so the Mediterranean at least), then through the Suez to the gulf & on to Aust via say India. Would be a long a way around.

add to that the warships through the mediteranean at the moment... you'd be lucky to get a car through there alive! insurrance would be a killer

i have used uship for getting parts from SC to CA for shipping...

i'd say Shermatt would have some contacts for transportation routes if thats the way to go...

quickest route from the east coast is Virginia, then down to Miami, then to Housten then onto LA

Miami is the slowest port in the planet to to get anything to Aus due to consolidation times and its still $1000 -$1400 more expensive however you have the option of RoRo from the east coast (that has its downside aswell)

I would pay for the transport to LA and get it consolidated up there. The whole thing is a lot more pleasant and by far quicker

Hope that helps
