best place to get 68 front fender park globes in QLD

Post by HappyOne »

Guys,

I have had some dramas tracking down where to get the light globes for the little front fender park light under the corner of the front bumper to suit a 68 mustang.

Are these a indicator as well or just parker light.

Normal bulbs are just a few mm to long.

any ideas where to get some?

Are they the 15mm base, single contact, single filament, in amber?

You can get them in the stubby style, not the big glass area, like taillights etc.
Burson will have access to them.

Not sure Steph,

The guys at Repco - told me they'd not seen them before!!

The car had double filiment bulbs screwed in. with the two pins being very close to the base an in line. The glass bulb is about 4-5mm shorter in hight to a standard tail light bulb.

I guess the real problem for me is to first identify if it's supposed to be a single or double filliment bulb - in otherwords is the light just a parker or combination parker and indicator......but the hight has to be the same otherwise the lens wont fit back on.

Maybe my LEDs will work.

So it is the same base as a stop/tail?

Measure how high the old ones are from the edge of the metal base, to the end?

Happy, are you talking about the "marker light" that faces the side near the wheelarch or the one that faces forward on the lower front panel?

If the side one, then it is a 5w single filament parallel pin bulb with a ball shaped glass. The front facing one is a 5w/21w dual filament, staggered pin with a larger domed glass.

When I am out in the shed today I will get the numbers.

NPD # are U-L1178A for the side marker and U-L1157A for the front indicator, if this helps.

Thanks nassi, that converts to 1178 & 1157 here if ordering in Australia from memory.

Hey HappyOne
Try this mob. They do deliver and I found amber globes for the front of my car after I was told by Autobarn that i should paint the clear globes to amber.

If you get stuck, drop me a line. I think have a few spares in the shed... I keep a good stock on-hand with two 68's...

Thanks Guys

It all sorted now - managed to get some globes that just fitted in, but they were hard to turn into the fitting.

Works like a brought one now.

Thanks again for all the helpful advise!!
