Re: HELP IMPORTING FROM SOUTH HEDLAND (N OF PERTH)
Ok, it seems I've organized the logistical nightmare:
Some of you may frown or scoff at how I did this, but remember its a project car that needs full resto:
1)Seller to put all parts inside the car
2) tilt tray tow from sellers house to Regals' base at Port Hedland
3) Regal will put the car onto a flattop truck and take it down to Perth
4) GKR Transport will get the car off the flattop onto a car carrier and transport it back to Sydney
5) I'll need to organize another tilt tray to pick up from GKR base then home
None of them supply insurance(?)(WTF??).....but I wasn't going to let that stop the process, so I've called Shannons who I'm currently insured with and they are happy to cover me for the transport journey as 'Laid up' insurance, the premium was only $150!!!! (my wife works for Suncorp, so I get spouse discount.....finally she's good for something) edit:(Dear wife, if you ever come across this comment, please know that I was only joking)

Re: HELP IMPORTING FROM SOUTH HEDLAND (N OF PERTH)
Well the costs went from 8-10grand down to $2700! .....just by taking the container out of the equation.
I'm not so worried about scratches or the paint at all as it'll all be striped, blasted etc...
My only worry is the parts inside the car, so the seller will document all the parts plus take photos as he's loading each part into the car and send me the list and photos.
That way, I can check everything is still there when it gets here.

Well done. Good result. You now have more dollars for the resto!

Not quite there yet......I need to make sure it get here first!
But I hope the option I went with pays off rather than paying triple to price to have a container.

You can by a lot of parts with the $5-7K you saved from ditching the container. So even is some go missing you should end up in front.

Good stuff mate. I've only had limited dealings with Regal but they seemed to be alright.

Ye, they were fantastic, about the only company that suggested doing it this way, the rest just wanted to either sell you a container or bad luck!
Let's just wait until it gets here and see if I've made the right choice.

Re: HELP IMPORTING FROM SOUTH HEDLAND (N OF PERTH)
Good to know, as most car carriers I've dealt with will not carry items in the car. Insurance purposes.

Woooohoooo!
Priscilla Queen of the Desert has arrived and is tucked away in the shed!
Port Hedland to Sydney: 5 companies, $2380!........far cry from the minimum of $6800 it was going to cost with a container.
I was just lucky the seller was a good bloke who locked it up with all the parts inside, taped up all the glass surrounds and sent me the key and all paper work via registered post.
Now for the dreaded project to begin......

And I spent the last few years up in hedland living in camps with nothing interesting to do most nights. Should have started on this one. haha
Good luck mate. Get used to sending your money to Summit and NPD ( maybe they can do a direct monthly debit function for us guys....).
