tail shaft question

Post by jonn »

Recently picked up a second hand tail shaft. The differential end of the tail shaft appears to have a rubber isolating mount.

Is this typical of a early mustang tail shaft?

Not typical & I would get a new one made without the rubber insert. They get out of balance when old as that one.

Yes that is more common.

The later cars (Cougar & Grande) had that rubber insert drive shaft.

Always worthwhile getting a new tube welded & balanced into a drive shaft when rebuilding a car.
