1960 F100 PROJECT
In December 2012 I bought a 1960 F100 through Shermatt to use as a driver /promotion vehicle for my business. It had a few small rust issues in the front frame right and rear, the engine was a 6 cylinder, and a three speed gearbox. Oviously owned by Mexicans and as described to me the interior looked like a coffin. These are the as arrived in Australia photographs

So I also bought a Peformance power disc brake upgrade kit and a Classic Air Conditioner kit which came across with the car. I can say Matt was easy to deal with and it was a stress free transaction.
Anyhow I did not remember to take photographs at first of the car.
I had a close look at the car and the clutch was gone, the rear brakes were shot, all the suspension and steering were well worn, and the wiring was tragic. So once again I started a rebuild on the mechanicals only at this stage as I want it to be safe for the family.
The 223 came out and it had been rebuilt but they did not hone the deck and as a result the head gasket was blown. So the motor was rebuilt. Below is the photograph of the motor once taken out and the gear box after it was cleaned up.

Whilst the motor was out we decided to paint the engine bay to pretty it up a little and started to rewire the car with a painless kit.
You can see the booster kit installed.

Whilst the engine was out all the supsension and steering was rebuilt and sadly I did not take photographs. I did take photographs of the repairs to the front rails of the truck and they are below. There is some rust in the left step into the cabin which I will address later on after this beast is on the ro

Re: 1960 F100 PROJECT
The engine went back in on Tuesday with the gearbox. The motor is stock as a rock and will remain that way. We will upgrade to a 120amp alternator and have to fabricate a bracket for the compressor. I will take more photographs in future and post em up for all to see.
Still got to finish the wiring, fit the exhaust manifold, fit the starter, fit an alternators, get the LO2, RWC, finish the brake lines, get a new exhaust, finish fitting the AC, rebuild the original HOlley carby and a few other small things and we should be right to go.

Nice F100... you going to keep it that colour?
Re: 1960 F100 PROJECT
Yeah it will stay the same colour, I have repainted the roof which is a pearl white because the sealer needed to be sorted. It is about three different shades of the colour you see, but it is pretty rust free for a 60 year old car. I need to replace the driver door, which I already have, and the step on the drivers side. Nothing major.

Re: 1960 F100 PROJECT
Did you expect the car to be in better condition when it arrived?
Re: 1960 F100 PROJECT
Tough call about value, I expected the car to be a driver. But it was far from that, but the price I paid is what I got in value for money. The motor, clutch were screwed. Wiring would have lasted but not for long. The brake were a quick fix. YOu pay for what you get. It was bought off mexicans so watch the next photographs. Overall I was happy with the car.

The rebuild of the carby started, which is the original, I think, 2 barrel carby. Who ever rebuilt this think before thought some type of glue would be best to stop leaks. Check out the photograph.
