Re: Suspect67
Yep, I agree with Nuts, as that is what I installed when I put my SSBC kit into my 67 C code auto.

Re: Suspect67
I didnt even think higher pivot..
I knew discs used a different ratio to provide more leverage, but assumed it was by lowering the lug and using an offset clevis.
This is what the booster has, so to use the correct pedal, I'd also need to change the clevis to straight.

Re: Suspect67
What do you mean by Clevis? Do you mean the end of the pushrod that attaches to the pedal pin?

Yeah, I'll take photos
But the one on the booster is offset, to match the adapter that came with it.
This is the adapter that came with the booster
And attached to original pedal.
The offset input into the booster
Strangely though.. I have the power disk holes in the pedal box.. The site would suggest early 67 didnt have that..

Re: Suspect67
You don't need that adapter, it's for 65-6. Just pivot the pedal from the top holes. hang on.... That booster looks like a 65-6 one. Are you sure the setup is for a 67-8?

Re: Suspect67
Turns out its not a SSBC one like I thought, but SD..
But PN suggests it is for 67.. dont know how accurate pictures are..

But yeah, it looks different.
Got it ages ago and it came with a bunch of gear that I didnt order directly myself.. so it could be the wrong one..

Re: Suspect67
Birchy, firstly, that booster will probably work ok but don't quote me. You will have to fart arse around fitting it. I did fit a similar one to a 66 and had a few dramas.
Nothing works like the original stuff... I would suggest you chase up the correct booster and don't forget the mounting plate. Looks like this one from NPD comes with the mounting plate.

Re: Suspect67
Hmm... my pedal seems to have a bit too much travel before the brakes do anything, so I thought I might need to change pedals, but it looks like the 66 uses the same pedal for manual and boosted brakes.
Re: Suspect67
That's correct. have you checked the play between the booster and the master cylinder. I believe there should be only a tad to ensure the M/C fully returns.hybrid wrote:the 66 uses the same pedal for manual and boosted brakes.
Re: Suspect67
Had a few wins today..
Eyelet on the booster is offset to match the adapter that comes with it.. But I need straight as I have the disk pedal.
Got a freebie from Perth Brake Parts that I need to cut, turn down to size and thread.
Then, while on my way home I followed a hunch and went home via Superoo in Armadale...
Checked XY castor rods, and they are a perfect match.. $55 later I had two in the back of the ute on their way to Stripped Bare..(when he gets home from Vegas that is)

Re: Suspect67
Considering new Mustang arms around around $100us, or $180 locally...
I was happy with that...
Now considering whether to have a go a reproducing this or not..

Re: Suspect67
If you have the ability to do your own machine work, then go for the adjustable push rod. That way you can ensure that the brake lights come on before you actually get any actual braking action. Great for dealing with tailgaters.
You can simply do one end, but that limits your adjustability to get it exactly the way you want it.

Re: Suspect67
Finally....
A year after putting the car up on jack stands to do the brakes and steering....
We've gone from this
to this
Was held up severely by issues with the rack..
Now just need to get another firewall grommet and then the car can come back down to terra firma..
