I was thinking the same thing. Measure first.

yep they were Ken's, I remember asking you at the time if they needed to be skimmed and you said they were good to go as is. :) they are in a giant bucket of molasses now so will wait until we drag them out and measure then.

What thickness are we talking (and don't get smart and suggest the thickness of my skull or anything) :rotfl:

I believe it is 0.810 of an inch is the minimum for a classic mustang disk.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

I'll have a look tomorrow, but I'm sure the minimum size is cast on the rotor.
Boofhead is correct for the factory spec anyway.

I have a couple of novice questions about this sort of repair.

Firstly what do people use to get into sections like in the pic to grind welds. I use a grinder with a flap disc most of the time but have found a few times I can't get access to certain areas so just wondering what else people use? Dremels?

Secondly in a section like that where basically no one will see the weld, do I really need to clean it up or can I just paint over it and forget it. Seem to remember the teacher at the panel beating course saying I should touch up the welds as they are prone to rusting quickly but maybe this doesn't apply if you are going to paint straight over it?

Xp we tried with flap disc but as you say you can only do so much. We have marine washed, etched and then primed ASAP on all the metal we have worked on. I noted the panel shop painted Mikes rain channel with some heavy duty black paint stuff almost like some sort of seam sealer.

Might ask Mike to post a pic to show what it looks like.
