Amen big boss 8O

Ok let me rephrase...I won't be cutting up the doors :rotfl:
I know its not the optimal audio setup having the in dash speaker as the front set but its either that or all in the trapdoor. The kick panel pods get in the way of the foot brake in manual cars so they are out too.

Lol too true Jeff

Surprisingly nothing needed to be cut on mine. The console had already had a single din unit fitted in a past life, so technically it had already been cut. My chances at a win in thoroughbred class haven't taken a further hit.

Haha yeh but we all know your stance on cutting up cars Steve, isn't it "It takes a real man to cut up a classic" or something?

From memory it was one of those dual speakers. Something else the highly trained judges missed ........ ;)

Gbx since you sound like you know your shit, what size sub and speakers should I put on the back if I try to use the front dash speaker. I think its worth giving the front a crack since its either the dash speaker or all rear.

To be honest I don't know much but was thinking 10" sub with 6x9s?

I was going to put a sub in mine.. but it's hard to find 10" subs these days... they all seem to be 12's.

Now I'm not going to bother anyway.

I know what the problem is - your exhaust is not loud enough. Fix that issue and then there is no need to have a stereo.

Hey you might be onto something boof...that way I wont have to talk to my passengers either!

Jacko...fully sick is an understatement...I'm going fully hektic!

Unlike you trailer queens I drive Q enough for the exhaust novelty to have warn off so its time for some tunes :rotfl:

10in subs will be tighter and punchier. I have a 12" Dual Voice coil sub. its tight and punchy but also has that looser response when called for. (ill just leave this comment here... ) :D

I used to have 4" clarion splits in my falcon in the side vents that worked really well. Maybe you can fit 4" somewhere. There are low profile ones too.

6x9's were purely designed for space in car parcel shelves. You will never (or shouldnt) find a oval shaped speaker in ANY high end audio gear (non car). From an audio point of view they have more distortion and dont project like a speaker should. You are better off with a 6" round (2ways not splits) in the rear especially if you are going to run a sub anyway. Let your sub handle the bass and your rears (or fronts if you can have them) handle the other frequencies. If you cant have anything up front then id just run the rears and sub off the amp and leave it at that. Nothing wrong with sound coming from the rear only. not completely ideal and your buxom passengers in the back might not appreciate audio screaming at them. Also the trap door will project the speakers to the back of the seat so its not going to be as good as it could unless you drop the seats. Im sure whatever you do will still sound good and as its already noted our cars are V8's and make noise so worrying about the details i mentioned above is probably irrelevant as you wont notice "quality" loss anyway.

Another reason i ran the rears off the head unit is i couldnt justify another amp for speakers that point to the back of the seat, when the head unit is ample for filler speakers anyway.

Food for thought. Do whatever fits and works. Just get a good amp, good speakers, headunit and amp, suitable sub.

A good head unit and amp is generally key and can make avg speakers sound good.

hope that was confusing lol.

Nope that actually made some sense. I'm going to be that guy and ask if you could help me pick out some gear because I don't even know where to start with brands, ohms, amps etc

Would it put any stress on the battery? It'd only be on when the engine is on obviously.
