Perfect timing Lee, just about to pull the trigger myself on a system I have been talking to George about over the last couple of weeks. Can I ask a couple of questions please

Why did you not run front speakers?
What speakers are in the back?
Which head unit are you using, looks like an Alpine but which model and why
What size sub you using
How does it sound

Ok I'll have a look around George.
I didn't run front speakers because I've got nowhere to put them really. The main two options are the footwell air vents and the doors but I didn't want to sacrifice the airflow since I don't have Aircon and I didn't want to cut the doors up. There is no doubt it would have a better soundstage but interms of just listening to music the quality and volume isn't a problem, it's just like having a boombox behind you haha
I have JL c2-600 competed speakers in the rear which sound awesome.
It's an alpine ide-178bt head unit, it's has Bluetooth and a lot of tuning features but I haven't delved into its full potential.
It's a 12 inch Kicker TCWRT124 slimline sub because there is bugger all room, the trunk opening is actually more of a constraint than the internal trunk space. It can pump when it needs too.
Amplifier is a JL XD400/4 which is nice too.
George helped me pick it out and I also hit the review section.

Any particular reason you didn't run with the alpine speakers and amp seeing you used an alpine head unit?

Mainly the reviews were really good and also the guy at the audio store said that these particular JL bits were better quality than the equivalent alpine equivalents. The sub was the only slimline one I could find but it also reviewed well.

Thanks Lee, did you happen to look at any Pioneer head units by any chance?

I didn't cage but to be honest unless you have 14 tonnes of dynamat in the car and have the engine off the quality to volume ratio is more important than peak quality! I didn't have a radio station tuned in so there was static that was loud enough that I thought to myself geez that's a bit loud but when I started the car I couldn't even hear it and my car is "quiet".

Exactly. Our cars aren't sealed and quiet cabins like modern cars and limited to speaker positioning. A lot of that clarity will go out the window. IMO for our cars appropriate gear with features you want and matching those components with reputable brands it's more important than worrying about which is best or better quality etc.

Great job Lee, I like it. :like:

As for the spare wheel ....... is it anywhere near the old J bolt position? If so I could bend a new one up that will hold it in.

nice post lee, god work. Re the keys and the boot, could that not be something medic assists with?

I never thought of placing a HU in the boot but it makes perfect sense, especially doing it the way you have done - for any car that is.

the timing is perfect as I was looking at speakers for the rear parcel shelf just before.
