Good luck Mike. Are you up yet? Looking forward to hearing the good news.

Yep, you need to be up and moving, and go out and start the old girl and get her ready......the car....not the wife.

Re: Mike's 68
Ha ha... thanks guys - yes I was up before dawn (no that is not her name) and got everything all set. Started her up to warm it up and waited for my other ride to turn up and follow me over to the inspection place. It drove really well but still needs a bit of a tune up for cold running but once warm doesn't seem to miss a beat.
Gave the inspector the heads up on a couple of minor items noting they are awaiting arrival of parts then asked if he needed to put the top up and down to check for function - suggesting immediately that I was aware of it not being a structural or roadworthy item. He responded with "nah, should be right mate" to which I replied with "great, cuz there is no canvas on it!!" He laughed and said no worries.
I am going to pick it up at 4pm and he said he will make sure it is ready by then so still waiting to hear...

Re: Mike's 68
Just teasing... It failed but I am still happy (go figure) as it is just the following and I would have expected more!
1) RR tyre just below 1.5mm
2) Engine, PS and Tx oil leaks - each one minor but needs to be remedied
3) Front disc callipers need lock wire on mounting bolts - oops!
4) Mod permit required for extractors
5) Weigh ridge certificate - done, thanks to my mate Vic (formerly WA Suspensions) at Tom's in Wangara
Will wire up the bolts tonight / tomorrow
Will get the mod permit tomorrow
Will sort tyre tomorrow
Will look at the oil leaks tonight - stupid me forgot to do a quick wipe down this morning before going but would probably have still shown
Should have no worries popping back in any time this week for the final tick!
Of course I would have preferred a pass first go around but this is just too easy and am really happy with this as I would have been far more critical!

Re: Mike's 68
I must have taken 50 cars over pits from my time at Salva's and Frank's and never once asked to produce a permit for extractors.
As for the weight, they would just ask and I would quote a spec sheet in lbs and they would convert to kgs.
I guess each inspector has their own interpretation of the requirements.
All in all, good news Mike. A job well done.
cheers

Nice one Mike!!
Re: Mike's 68
I was surprised by that one Nassi but it is what it is. A very minor thing in the scheme of things.nassi wrote:I must have taken 50 cars over pits from my time at Salva's and Frank's and never once asked to produce a permit for extractors.

The weight was no biggy with Vic just 2 streets over with the certified weighbridge. Was in and out in 5 mins and he did me a really good price - top bloke is Vic!

Re: Mike's 68
Never hurts to have somebody inspect your car because they see things you don't and you see things they don't, now so close to the finish it's great to finish the final tweaks....then enjoy. You also know it's up to the standards they require and the insurance company too.
Cheers,
