Re: Random Questions
Do you need to have inner axle seals on an 8" diff. I finally found a set that are the right diameter(there are 3 sizes) and now the axle wont go in all the way.
Re: Random Questions
Do you mean the seal at the tube flange? If so, yes.

Re: Random Questions
Thanks XP. Do you know if the internal diameter of the seal is supposed to be the same size as the axle or the bearing retainer/collar?
Re: Random Questions
Sorry mate no idea on that one, Shaun or Kerry might chime in here. I only happened to see the video a few days before your post as I'm trying to decide whether to have a go at rebuilding the diff myself or not. Good luck with it though.

Re: Random Questions
I have a bearing and seal kit for my '66 and the oil seal is smaller than the retainer so assume the seal fits the axle.
When I get around to doing the bearings I will know for sure.
BTW the rear axle is standard 8"

Re: Random Questions
Same as the axle (its actually a fraction smaller) as its the axle it seals on.rock66 wrote:Thanks XP. Do you know if the internal diameter of the seal is supposed to be the same size as the axle or the bearing retainer/collar?
Re: Random Questions
More Random questions: I am looking for a dual chamber brake master cylinder with a booster for a man trans with front kelsey hayes 4 spots and rear drum brakes. There seems to be a few options. Ive been reading a forum on the dark side about how many dramas they are having getting the set up right, hard pedal and so fourth. So which is the right one to use?
Re: Random Questions
Hard pedal on a 66 I don't really understand because the pedal ratio is designed for no booster.
The problem a lot of 66ers have is the pedal being soft and having a lot of travel.
Look for a booster than has a built in ratio adjustment to make it right.

Re: Random Questions
This is what it should look like. Unfortunately this is a SD pic, but you get the idea of the rocker setup .....

Re: Random Questions
Looks like alot of pivot. Does all this go inside the firewall without modifying the pedal box?ozbilt wrote:This is what it should look like. Unfortunately this is a SD pic, but you get the idea of the rocker setup .....
Re: Random Questions
The pivot stays on the outside of the firewall.
