Removed most of sealant, need to reseal and will prime soon for topcoat, the bones are good but she needs some cosmetics in the boot!

That sealant is a real PITA to get rid of. Hard to scrape off but then if you try to sand it with a flap disc it just clogs the disk and gets spread over the rest of the panel. :argh:

Looks like a nice solid car under the paint. :like:

Take a propane torch, LIGHTLY heat it, and scrape it off with a putty knife. Works a treat!

Yeh guys I hate this bloody old sealant I reckon I went through twenty sheets and pads of sandpaper. Finally cleaned the metal as best as I could, new sealant applied, primer and topcoat tomorrow!!!

Sanded and sealant applied, note the oringinal Caspian blue and lead red oxide primer!!

What sealant did u use ? How did u apply (brush)
1965 Mustang Coupe with a 5.0L EFI V8

I used Sikaflex sealant! I used a gun applicator and my finger to spread it.

Base colour in boot clear tomorrow, painted the boot with acrylic as I dont have a spray booth and thought acrylic is easy to spray! found the finish with acrylic not as glossy as I thought even after clear.
