That sealant is a real PITA to get rid of. Hard to scrape off but then if you try to sand it with a flap disc it just clogs the disk and gets spread over the rest of the panel.
Looks like a nice solid car under the paint.

Take a propane torch, LIGHTLY heat it, and scrape it off with a putty knife. Works a treat!

Yeh guys I hate this bloody old sealant I reckon I went through twenty sheets and pads of sandpaper. Finally cleaned the metal as best as I could, new sealant applied, primer and topcoat tomorrow!!!

Sanded and sealant applied, note the oringinal Caspian blue and lead red oxide primer!!

I used Sikaflex sealant! I used a gun applicator and my finger to spread it.
