it was originally a 289 C code with a 3 speed manual and 8" rear axle.
I have a Lincoln Versailes 9" rear, 68 Mustang disc brake spindles and I am looking at a early 60's 390 from a T-Bird for it.

the Lincoln 9"
Probably don't have those down under but this came from a car like the Granada. It is the same width as the 65 axle and same spring perch width. It also has factory disc brakes.

I built a 65 convert with 69 Cougar towers back in California in 1999. Made it right hand drive & it was the prototype for the TCP right hand drive rack & pinion as well as the convertible sub frame connectors ......

They have an issue with the wider track front suspension, you will either have to flare the fenders or cut down the suspension (as I did).

Excellent - more build threads. Your doing a lot of work there - very interesting. Love the fat Cragar's on the last photo. Looks so old school.
Please keep up with the story and photos. Glad your back.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

I am hoping to use late model front wheels with more offset rather than cut the suspension. I don't want to flare the fenders. I am hoping for a fairly "stock" looking car.

The fat Cragers I have had since I was about 15 and they were my cousin's before that. So they are OLD school. I want to keep the ratty old school look it has now.

Hi Craig,
Nice to see the progress on the 65.
I dont know how you do it, considering you spend more time flying than most of us do working!
Cheers,
Steve
The word "swims" upside-down is still "swims".

yes this is true. I had a few days at home this week and the weather was cooler so I took advantage and worked on this one. It has been sitting untouched for a while. I still need to get the 69 home so my son and I can start on it!

this is one of two 69's we bought for my 17 year old. They are rough but he has a plan and it will be fun to build with him.

The car after the suspension was shortened 5/8" (TCP top & bottom arms) .....

do you recall the wheel BS and width? Those look like they are fairly wide with some deep dish.
the picture attached is of a 65 with 68 suspension and shock towers shared by a VMF member who had done the conversion many years ago. He has the original SS wheels on it. I think they are 14x5" BS is 3.75"
