The little hatchback in front of me was getting pushed sideways by the wind while sitting still!! The hail that hit me was bigger than golf ball.

The cars around me had smashed windscreens but mine held up.

If you need a hand stripping it down give me a call I am happy to help a mustang brother.

A second thought - since all the panels need to be replaced anyway - why not a Fastback conversion on her?

Thanks but It'll be an insurance job. I'll get a quote this afternoon and see where I stand.

Look on.the bright side... free paint job. I would be celebrating opportunity for free colour change if mine got done.

OK so back to the engine.

The RTS sump fits like a bought one. Built in windage tray and all.

The cam is in and degreed. I used a comp cams double roller timing chain set, the one with the three notches in the crank gear. We just found out the notch with the nice arrow stamped above it which you would think is the default actually retards by 4 degrees.

The other issue I found is the Summit racing roller lifter retaining set came with 7 correct dogbones and one wrong one :-(

The next issue is that the dowel holes in the new older style timing cover were too small. The late model timing cover fit fine so I just drilled out the ones on the new one to the same size.

Would anyone have a dogbone they can spare?

The stamped time mark normally advances the cam 4 not retard. IE the cams are ground with 4deg advance normally. Retarding it will shift the power up higher.

I have used a few of the Summit roller cam new spider and dog bones kits - never had an issue with the parts. Your not having a good time. I would think SP would have a few second hand dog bones from some of his old builds lying around unless he has had a clean up. Summit is very good at replacing parts and helping out its customers so I am confident they will sort it for you.

I have one I use for engine builds at my place that you can take and I can replace it when I see SP ( I will drop in today or maybe he is joining me at the Pub today for lunch) or you can drop in and we can go see SP together on the weekend. What time are you thinking Luke?

BTW: Any news about your Car?

Hi,

So Shannons have decided paintless dent removal isn't the way to go. I have it booked in for a quote at Exclusive in the Valley on the 19th. It won't be sorted this year.

This weekend is a write off for me so maybe one day early next week after work?
