Oiling was lack of flow to the galleys/lifters after some intial running post-break-in.

Turned out a beetle (no, not a Volkswagen, John, Paul, George or Ringo) got inside the block and ended up wedged in the oil galleys. Builder tore down the engine to pieces and rebuilt it to ensure all was well... all sorted.

Now just brake adjustments, alignment and some minor electrical issues. And to find the old plates to swap over to the custom ones on it to make it street legal... no clue where they got off to....

How was the beetle? I guess after washing & rehab it is now happily living in your garden?

Yeah, not one I'd ever heard of before... I have found wasp nests on/in cars before but never in the engine.

Little bugger apparently made its way in around the plastic wrap and found a nice pre-fab apartment complex of rooms and tunnels all ready to go! ;)

Some happy snaps from post cleaning/waxing today... high sun and a crap camera made it hard to get good pics, but a few close ups to show some of the details... need to have a photographer friend arrange something once I get all the little issues sorted (like the hanging ignition switch, custom!!! :smile01:)

Custom "floating" fogs, made a hidden bracket instead of the chrome post.

Image

OEM comfort weave deluxe interior. Bought the fabric from SMS and TMI made the custom upholstery as a special order.

Image

Black Shelby console was a "temporary" have a dark green custom one to swap in, the black goes back to the convertible.

Image

Still need to look into a snorkel and heat shield for the engine, the missing snorkel just looks a bit off...

Image

AM will go once the new console goes in, have a OEM 8 track to put in it!

Image

Yes, the SHELBY lettering is not to stock sapcing. Didn't like the OEM look so customized the spacing

You didnt go with the dual quads I see. That would have been cool, if you could have made it work.

Nope, no dual quads. Went for the stock ram air setup original to the 68 Shelby's.

No clue how much the engine is putting out, have not done a dyno test. The carb is running a bit off an may need rework or replacement, it was a OEM 68 Holley and may have some worn bushings/slop. All I can say is in backing it off the trailer it was hard not slipping the tires, and in a few "around the block" shakedown runs it seems to be able to get to street speed pretty quickly...! :grinning:
