Or buy a dart block and use 4-1/8 bore with the 347 parts and new pistons which give 363,

Not a factory block.

Just spied this article. "The fuel-injected 5.8/351 Windsor, similar to the XW GT 351 engine, not the Cleveland, replaced the smaller V8 in 1990. These genuine Australian RHD vehicles ended in 1992 but are highly valued as a used buy when they are so long-lived"

These would have been roller blocks.

That's my interpretation of the rules, and it would also appear the same as the bloke who's pulling a reported 650hp out of his. Although his wallet is far fatter than mine.

So going with SP - at 362 capacity

You will need;
RPM: 7500 peak
VE: 0.95

calculated guesstimate is: 548 HP

if VE goes to 1.1 then 635 HP

this is with a BSFC of 0.5

Lower HP is realistic with your budget.

Combination - something along these lines:
Profiler 205 heads
Parker funnel web intake
Holley 850
1 3/4 full length headers 3.5 collector and 2.5 mandrel bent system
33 degs timing for WOT
Cam: around 250@50 In 255@50 exh on 110 with .640 lift
comp: 11:1

What happened to trick flow and AFR? Profiler is a new one.

It is a newish player that is getting some good results. They are also reasonably priced. I like to experiment so I would use a set on a build if I have the opportunity.

My preferred head is the Tickflow offerings then AFR - I have used many times heads from both and always had good results. If your racing you may have rules that do not allow the TF twisted wedge heads due to (benefits of) the relocated valve position and angles. High ports are a very good idea, as well, for your type of build - 225 TF highport would be great but the cost is going up and again maybe ruled out due to port re-positioning (which may affect some AFR options as well).

Need to make sure there are no special rules - though I am also thinking in terms of your budget. No point offering an idea when it blow the budget (or the rules).

Engine is free. Only restriction is the block must be production. Use any head & induction type you want (not forced but) and any management program. No traction of any sort. Revs are free.
I was thinking TF race heads with their pistons to suit.

Trickflow TFR heads - very good idea. Very nice cylinder head.

So are you after further suggestions based on that head?
You have other thoughts?

Edit - I have been pondering the use of the TFS-R heads and having thought about it and doing some double checking I think staying with a CNC 225 high port would be a better choice. Because;
- Similar flow capability,
- it will be less expensive,
- an easier build and
- likely to be more reliable.

As far as intake - Super Victor intake - I would look to getting it ported/cleaned up as you need more flow in it than the heads.

Camshaft Solid roller - I can start looking at what to consider.

Headers Looking at 1 7/8 primaries with the good sized ports you have.

this is fun spending others money......

Well, before you start spending any more money I do have a 347 here waiting to be screwed together.
It has Dart Pro 1 heads (62cc chambers, 2.02 inlet and I think 195cc runners).
Scat rotating bits and Probe slugs.
Late 5.0 roller block out of a truck.

Supposing this all gets tweaked from road to track use (so carb, higher comp pistons, etc) where will we be at in power?
Trying to work out what the return on my investment is for each option.

Since you have the main parts then it just might be an economic choice.
The 195 darts are an relatively inexpensive mid range head. You can do ok with them. If you want to crack 550 hp they would likely need to be ported. The foundation is good though so no need to be concerned. Get the intake ported and the ports port matched as well. A 450 hp build no problem - it the extra 100 hp = more cam, more intake, more carbi and more revs.

The Darts are ok, but are as cast, they'll work ok but need some work on the bowls and short turn. Rods 408 has a set not by choice just that he had them , they are way to small for that engine, I did a light bleand on the bowls and macthed the intake. I would actually go and get the valves re done with 5 angle seats this makes big difference in its self. If you intend to rev it Id put a girdle on it and line bore it.
