Re: Rusty 66 Coupe
Thanks Dwayne,
I got out of hospital yesterday and I am keen to get stuck back into the Mustang, posting here was the next best thing.

Nice welding there. Re the heads, not sure the exhaust valve is big enough ;-)

Re: Rusty 66 Coupe
Has anyone removed the roof skin and drip rails on a coupe and managed to do so without destroying them, I want to reuse mine as I dont think you can buy drip rails for the coupe. Cheers.... Ray

You can't. I had to buy fastback ones and cut/shut to repair mine.
Re: Rusty 66 Coupe
You'd have to drill out all of the spot welds from the drip rails, including all the ones under the roof skin.
Kerry's probably done it before![🤔](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f914.svg)

Reality, the fastback drip rails are easy to modify to suit. Hardest bit is the terrible roof panel as the last one I saw was in 3 pieces, the roof skin and the 2 rear pillars.

Re: Rusty 66 Coupe
Nice build. When I saw the fully floating 9" with 31 spline axles I figured you were going for big horsepower as they can comfortably handle 1500 hp. That will be a wicked motor at 427 cubes with those nice heads. What are you hoping for 600+ hp?

Re: Rusty 66 Coupe
Hey EdzVert, Around 600hp would be good. Hope to get back into it soon. Long way to go.
Re: Rusty 66 Coupe
Finally well enough to start doing a little work on the car, have built up over the last few days to an hour and a half today.
Decided after talking to Kerry a few weeks ago to check under the front section of drip rail, I think I will rebuild this section at least.

Doesnt look too bad under the roof skin.

I will save the outer section where the drip rail cover clips on and weld a new piece where the spot welds go thru to the window pillar.

Re: Rusty 66 Coupe
You can possibly graft some of the new fastback drip rails on to that section if needed.

Re: Rusty 66 Coupe
Exactly. Only the rear section where it drops down is different on the fastbacks to the hardtop.hybrid wrote:You can possibly graft some of the new fastback drip rails on to that section if needed.
