I consider myself a person that is ruled by logic and it seems logical to put a higher hp, lighter motor into a car doesn't it? If I was worried about branding I would be building a bwm or something

Hmm perhaps allow yourself a little human weakness there Lee. Let's face it, the 40 year old Mustang is not a logical choice for driving around in but we're suckers anyway. :)

Damn I was hoping that no one brought that up...I guess logic is subjective isn't is. Ok what I was trying to say was the brand wars don't really bother me

I'm with you Lee..
Hot rodders do it all the time... (No one gets their back up about a Chevy in a 32)
Look at Tim Allen's F truck.. (yeah, its a Hemi)

Now, if only I can convince the minister for war and finance..
(BUT, should someone happen to set a precedent...)

I hate seeing 32's fords with Chevs. Most of them do it though.
Dads mate has one and I give him crap about it all the time.

I cannot defend Tim Allen's F truck... (I built it) 8O but I do like Fords in Fords etc.

Reason the hot rodders went that way was the oil filter was in a good spot in relation to the LHD steering. When Ford came out with the adjustable 90degree oil filter mount, then you saw a lot more Fords being installed. Also the 50's Chev was lighter than the 50's Ford Y block (& quicker)

Saw an Impala up in Seattle that had been grafted over a Ford Crown Vic chassis, the Chev guys were throwing rocks at him. They did not see the humour in that one.

All my customers in the US had Fords in their 32's. Best one was a 3 window, black, red interior with a blown 5.0 in it. Neat car. Some others were hi boys that had flat heads in them, nostalgia cars.

Oh yes there was a 34 5 window with a Donovan sprint car engine....

They use Lexus v8s in Cobra's and GT40s now. If I was building a rod it would have a flat head. Bloke down the road build old race cars to run at historic events, all ford flat head base, hand formed alloy bodies, bit rough but thats how they were.

Windsor, and if it's not lght enough buy an alloy block. But really a windsor isn't that heavy, and alloy intake and heads knocks some weight off them and add HP, the iron intake alone is heavy as. Compared to a Jag engine a windsor weight is nothing, and the front of an E type jag is made of push bike tube! Actually it's army surplus from building bomber wings but Reynolds tube none the less.

Cmon Lee,
simple answer strong injected 5.0 windsor, paxton or vortech supercharger==FAST AND STREETABLE.

Pinky has mild alloy head 5.0 with paxton and carby has 360hp rear wheels- Lotsa torque[ forgot figure] and did 12.1 quarter mile with issues

[ therfore when probs sorted should be able to get under 12 sec]

Car drives like a granny car until the right foot goes down.
I think its a good combo for you- power/speed/reliability/driveability.

think about it!!!!!!! sleeper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL jbb

Have you got a strong injected 5.0 in mind jbb? I'm still trying to nail down what base engine to start with...I'm thinking a 5.0 from an AU

I'm liking the instant response/power curve of the twin screw over the centri but haven't driven both so it's hard to say. Anyone experienced both?
