Re: My 67 Convertible EFI Restomod project
Update time. Spoke to RRS today, they will repair rack under warranty if defect is found. I just have to rip it out and send it to them. I also figured out that my power steering pump is stuffed, so new one is on the way. My mate Pete nearby that has a 66 vert with an RRS rack had the same problem as me with his rack and his was replaced with a new one under warranty, he figured out that his power steering pump was supplying too much pressure to the rack so he put in a Heidts adjustable pressure pwr steering valve, so I have ordered one of them. And if all that fails I think I will start collecting everything I need to convert it back to the original pwr steering set up. I got rid of all my stuff years ago. In the meantime Ive got J1's stang on the hoist to put some disc brake onto
Re: My 67 Convertible EFI Restomod project
Tim, I have an RRS rack in my 67 and it's fine. Like you I had the rack for many years before I got it on the road. I have lost around 5 degrees lock but a small price to pay for a muzzy that steers straight as. Sort the bugs out and then try it, I think you will like the end result.

Re: My 67 Convertible EFI Restomod project
Im pleased that RRS has come to the party even though the part is old (but not used ) as mine is also.
They have treated me well after i bought their discounted R&P from Blue Oval Garage (and have had alot of dramas) rather than buying from RRS direct , and said they will support me if my rack proved faulty.
If you remember with my build it had alot of movement however was not and still isnt loaded up with oil which they say should fix the problem.

Re: My 67 Convertible EFI Restomod project
Tim are you replacing your original 5.0l efi donor power steering pump with another one the same or something different? Im wondering if i need to get a pressure regulator valve for mine aswell.
I assume that over pressure problems would be caused by having the wrong pump (pulley size) on a motor it doesnt belong to which is not the case with ours, if you get my drift. However yours did blow so...
Say a 6cyl pump and pulley retro fitted to a V8 where it may need a larger pulley..just a guess.
Just found this great pump pressure reducing video
Maybe you could have a look at your stuffed pump to see if it can be done?

Also can you remember if the Ron Morris engine mounts you got were std or 1/2 inch drop?

Re: My 67 Convertible EFI Restomod project
Im just getting a replacement pump for the 5.0, picking one up this morning, it comes attached to a complete and running 93 NC Fairlane. This has got a few new parts on it that will be handy, the engine out of this will be built up as a stroker with all the good gear to replace the standard engine in my stang down the track.
The Ron Morris engine mounts I have are the standard height ones.

Re: My 67 Convertible EFI Restomod project
Picked up my new power steering pump yesterday. The Mrs asked why did I need the trailer on to pick up the pwr steering pump, I said that they are very big. Anyway heres what came attached to the pump. It comes with plenty of other good bits that will be spares for my stang, new transmission, new alternator and lots of other goodies, what i dont need I'll flog on egay. This Fairlane is almost identical to the one that donated all its running gear for my stang.
Re: My 67 Convertible EFI Restomod project
If the A/C system is still holding gas, i'd be interested in purchasing the compressor.
