To get the veneer onto a curved surface use a vacuum press to hold it all together until the glue sets. It would mean removing all the parts from the faceplate though.

So where does one get a vacuum press?

I am assuming that means putting it in some sort of plastic bag and applying vacuum.... hmmmmm could try the heavy duty clothes storage bags and the Dyson on a spare cruddy one.... thanks for the idea....

Yes a plastic bad, we get them made up but a heavy duty clothes bag should do it.
If the dyson isnt up to it and you have a compressor then try one of these.

Just use araldite, clamps (even those spring loaded ones) and pieces of timber to hold it in place. This is what we use when veneering the curved fronts on antique furniture etc.

I will stick to the press as it's available and gives an even pressure across the surface. Thanks Jacko for the alternative.

Show was last week. I could not attend due to biz travel.

As the car had a few issues I was not happy with we told them "do not judge". They forgot, judged it anyway, and we missed first prize for the dozen or so Mustangs there by a whisker... if we had had a another week or two, who knows.... very happy with the result. A few :drink: tonight to celebrate!!!
