scott66stang wrote:Tim are you replacing your original 5.0l efi donor power steering pump with another one the same or something different? Im wondering if i need to get a pressure regulator valve for mine aswell.
I assume that over pressure problems would be caused by having the wrong pump (pulley size) on a motor it doesnt belong to which is not the case with ours, if you get my drift. However yours did blow so...
Say a 6cyl pump and pulley retro fitted to a V8 where it may need a larger pulley..just a guess.

Just found this great pump pressure reducing video
Maybe you could have a look at your stuffed pump to see if it can be done?

Also can you remember if the Ron Morris engine mounts you got were std or 1/2 inch drop?
Pretty sure late pumps are ok, Scott just the original one you cant use

Woo Hoo, Got home from work today, parcel waiting for me from RRS. One nice shiny new steering rack. My rack must have been stuffed, Im pretty happy with RRS considering I bought the rack about 6 or 7 years ago, its just been sitting around waiting. The new rack looks like its had a bit of a redesign

Very happy to hear that Tim.
That redesign of the "lay shaft"... thats what ill call it anyway.... looks to be a better idea.

Edit: On a second look has that changed or is it the angle of the photo.

The main thing I noticed is the right end no longer has a cap with a circlip holding it on. It looks like the right end is now completely sealed with no cap. Not sure about the "lay shaft" though The hard lines that run from the steering shaft section to the right end look to be bigger in diameter too

Just looked on their site its called a "Linea Tracking" Shaft and looks to be the same as mine. I dont have the cap either so must be the newer model, mine would be 3years old.

Tim, whether you are interested or not, you can get these alloy covers for the Falcon/Commodore/Skyline Borg Warner Diffs. I'll end up getting one for mine and having Mustang painted on that flat bit and polish the rest up.

Well, more drama with the RRS steering rack. The new replacement rack they sent me didnt last long, the right end cap blew out and spewed power steer fluid eveywhere. I got ono RRS and they are going to replace it again. But im just about done with this. Too many setbacks for me. Got some health issues that may stop me from working so I have to sort that out first. The bloody stang can sit in the corner of the shed for a while

Correct as they are for a rack & pinion. Original has too much pressure.
