The problem with hydraulic lifters is you need to strip them down, regardless of the make. The coating on them is not oil, it's there to basically stop rust. I strip them down and clean all the parts in solvent( you would be amazed at all the crap in some of them), assemble and chuck each one in a tube of fresh oil, never had an issue with lifters.

Unilec5544, yeah I've since found out they sometimes use some sort of wax on assembly, which doesn't always get flushed out, hence we have flushed the replacements out, so fingers crossed,
Jacko… as long as you bring it back when you're done...lol
