Forgot to mention, I had a basic marti report done on the jaffa.
No real surprises, apart from a parchment vinyl roof, whitewalls, wire wheel covers and black paint stripes.
Am I correct in believing that paint stripes means bonnet stripes, like I have on my car ?
Im not aware of any other paint stripes for a 68.

Also where do I start to look up the dealer 71F080 ?
Done a bit of searching and found the last owner in the US and he filled me in on the last 20 years.
Just kinda interested in searching up some more.
Like the family tree sort of thing.

The deluxe may add that info.

A basic report is kinda just a quick thrown together report for confirmation of a sellers description of a vehicle.

A deluxe report is more tuned to an owner wanting to know some info on their car

An elite report is for those that want everyrhing!

Well 10 months on now from rego and I'm still sorting through little mechanical issues.
The car is still not where i want it to be and as I upgrade things, the learning experience continues.
So far Ive had the diff rebuilt, trans rebuilt, new starter motor, new carb and manifold, new battery (which stopped the starter motor not wanting to turn over).
Also had one of the chokostang power disc brake kits fitted.
The kit went in fairly smoothly.
The brakes are now excellent and I would recommend it.

Took her to the local SMASA car show yesterday.
It was the first time for both of us as participants, so we lost our virginity together
Had a great day.

Only have a couple of mechanical probs left to sort out.
One is a bad case of pinging under load but will start another thread for that.

With your dealer, might be able to get some info from other cars from the same ordering district 71. I just checked mine, but im 72.

Im following up some leads on my dealership. It has race history in auustralia! They sponsored a speedway car driven by Larry Burton in 66

Get an elite Marti report as it list the dealer's name. Probably long gone as they change hands often & a lot disappeared during the GFC.

As for the Larry Burton's super modified ......

I know the guy that built the car (actually he still has some from back in the day at his shop, about 5 chassis & 2 complete cars from memory), he is in his 80's now & still goes to club race days & fits tyres, he is amazing!

The guy that built the engines was my engine builder when I was in the US. He was in his mid 70's at the time.

When the car had finished the summer season here (off season in the USA) Larry sold the car to Sid Hopping & it was then known as "The Beast". It won a lot of races & was responsible for demolishing the super modified, that I crewed on, while I was doing Nasho's. So I missed out on fixing that one ..... ;)

Still tinkering.
Fixing those little bits and pieces that I couldnt be bothered doing when it was cruising weather .
My brake warning light is always lit when the ignition is on and the car is running .
Has done since I got the car.

Image

Did it on the drum brakes and on the new disc brake set up.
I disconnected the wiring at the distribution block so as not to alarm passengers and because it gave me the shits !

Image

Recently swapped over the switch on the distribution block for a new one ($36).

Image

Still does the same thing.
Stays lit up.
How does the switch/light work or should I be looking at something else ?
