Re: Caretakers Fastback
Daryl,
Thanks for the call today about the ignition.
It's still being a "bitch" and not wanting to release...might have to go plan B.
Everything is out of the dash & crash pad removed, next will be to remove the steering column outer, maybe tomorrow night and then onto the sanding of dash board.
Will post couple extra photo's from this afternoons effort.

Awesome stuff!!...Thats all I use Geoff.Nuts wrote:3Mâ„¢ Super Weatherstrip Adhesive, 08008, 5 oz Tube, Black, available at most auto paint places.
Bottom right corner of the box will tell you what colour it is...just make sure it says BLACK

Re: Caretakers Fastback
Even check the colour before you leave the store. My local supplier had a whole box marked as black, were in fact grey.

Re: Caretakers Fastback
Guy's,
Needing some advice, Thirsty & I installed new door rubber seals tonight.
Fitted well no hassles their but I'm guessing I know need to re-align the doors as they are not closing well.
I've played with the striker but feel I'm missing something.
The gap at front of door & front fender looks good but as you close the door it feels something is jarring towards the front hinge. Too close you have to slam..
Once closed the door lines don't look even & the door towards the striker end won't sit flush.
Would appreciate any feedback & suggestions.

Have a look at the end of the rubber seal near the hinge, the knobbly bit. I have had to trim the rubber on a couple of reseals. Not sure if the rubber is a different compound or shape from original but thats my suspicion.
cheers

Nassi
The new certainly has that nobby bit at the front + a tab for screwing into pillar which my originals didn't have.
That would make sense as it the first bit that needs to compress when the door starts to close.
I'll give that a trim bit by bit and hopefully that will help.
I know I need to re-align the door striker which I will do once I trimmed the nobby bit.
Next will be to replace steering column so I can mask everything up.
Thirsty, Thanks for the hand last night!

I've heard repro rubbers are a bit harder and can make closing the doors a bit of a bitch.

Yep, they didn't want to close!!
We were a bit pissed.
Nassi, the nobby bits were not not on the old ones.
Makes it a bit painfull - You say, hang on - old ones dont have them, but new ones you would think are correct. - Hang on - which is wrong, which is right???

Re: Caretakers Fastback
Well its Tuesday night & we have 2 sleeps before we off..
Managed to clean the garage & pack up the tools that were residing in the Fastback.
Masked the dashboard ready for undercoating on my return. Fairly big task to finish the Fastback for the Roundup in October but we can only try!!

Re: Caretakers Fastback
I think you need to ask yourself whats more important, get the mustang ready for for the roundup
or go to Phuket?
Priorities....

They should be there, perhaps that was how the PO trimmed them.thirsty390 wrote:Yep, they didn't want to close!!

Nuts...at this point in time Phuket is the priority.. I know this might seem strange to most mustanger's but with all that has happened this year, I need the break & a couple
