Abbreviations for the document
VE = Volumeric Efficiency
CSA = Cross Sectional Area

I will someday think of something clever to say.
Re: Engine Parts Selection Tech Article
Why I suggested the abbreviations doc on a separate page, is that it allows you to read the article & be able to have the doc opened on another page. I realise that cannot happen on a phone, but a computer is no worries.boofhead wrote:
The abbreviations are explained though mainly in the formula summaries so I accept it is not clearly done in the core document. I do think I need to address that issue so I will make an abbreviations post. I will see look to add a section to the document as well. Thank you for that suggestion.
Again, that doc could be open for all motor trade terminology so that anyone reading from here (or anywhere in the world for that matter) can understand the terminology. Good example is panel names in Australian, English & USA speak, also tools etc ......

Re: Engine Parts Selection Tech Article
Ok so do we start another page and where?
Note: I have also expanded on the VE and CSA usage to include more full names before the abbreviation so it is hopefully clearer. Thanks again OZ for helping to improve the article.

I am thinking in the Tech Zone. It could be a category all of it's own. Say call it "Trade Terminology Conversion" or something like that. I could add most automotive panel terms along with tools & metal working machines. Probably even add pics via Photobucket.boofhead wrote:Ok so do we start another page and where?

It is good that we are becoming more technically focused & this type of thing added to what you have produced & what is already there, would make this forum a world leader.

Ok sounds good to me. Run it by Hybrid (who is MIA) and I will fill in my part as needed.

I will start my part as I have a lot of teaching notes from many years ago ....... 🤔boofhead wrote:Ok sounds good to me. Run it by Hybrid (who is MIA) and I will fill in my part as needed.

Sorry fellas, been a bit busy since I went back to work. Nothing gets done while you're away for 5 weeks... you know the drill.
I'm happy to go with whatever you guys think. A glossary type page is a good idea.

I agree, good idea guys. Ratio's and the like would be good too.

Ratio's - as in diff ratios?
I have a small section on that as well.

Re: Engine Parts Selection Tech Article
Stuff like that Boof, compression ratio, typical calculations ETC. Like study notes.

Add it to the list.

Good stuff.cage wrote:Stuff like that Boof, compression ratio, typical calculations ETC. Like study notes.
Ok - so calculating the compression ratio is already in the article plus Hybrid created a calculator under the 'Automotive Calculators section' [which is new as well].
I would expect if Hybrid gets the time more calculators will appear as the article progresses.
I am interested though in what you mean by study notes as it might show I am not detailed enough in my article.

Re: Engine Parts Selection Tech Article
I am probably going too far with it Boof as you have it all covered but what I mean with Study notes is adding to Oz's comments a bit.
So when you study you have heaps of information that are the sources you use to study for an exam for example. You make select notes of, for instance with maths, all the relevant equations that you need to know and you study the shit out of that, you don't study the entire resource library. So when I mean study notes and adding to Oz's comments re abbreviations you could add all the relevant formula's, key points such as the part list ETC all in one document as your ultimate go to tool. Hope that makes sense Boof.
Like I said though I have probably gone to far with it so forget everything I said.

I understand what your asking but I am not sure how to provide what you need.
I have an idea though so stay tuned.
