Remember you can get away with a bigger cam with an 8 stack as you don't get reversion issues. I've got a reasonable idle at 780rpm with my 230/240 now.

Oh the Cam Woody wants me to use is much bigger than that with 106 centers 640 lift and ist like 254/264 solid roller so a much more aggressive lobe then you, I need a 250 lb on the seat spring, Its a grumpy Oval track cam that should make 500 + at the tyre easy.

Actually having trouble finding a spring to suit the installed height on the AFRs, think I will have look at a Pac 1238,

here is the Cam spec, the lift will be less as its a solid cam it has to have lash so it will be like 620/600

Cam Style: Mechanical roller tappet
Basic Operating RPM Range: 3,800-7,400
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 256 int./264 exh.
Advertised Intake Duration: 289
Advertised Exhaust Duration: 297
Advertised Duration: 289 int./297 exh.
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.646 in.
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.624 in.

SO what size are the throttlebodies on your 8 stack? 50mm++ I hope. My 46mm will max out around 500HP.

50 mm, Woody reckons it will be fine he uses this cam regularly, in similar size engines and says its very strong even with a 750 DP, he is building a similar 363 with 50 mm ITBs for a GT40 at the moment. 8x50mm would move alot more air than a 750. ITBs would have to approach 2000cfm I would think

I just hope the crummy Weber manifold they use in these things doesn't let us down!!

I will be totes devoed if I see vacuum at 6500RPM WOT with the new exhaust!!!

I'm not over ITB's by any means, but I was reading an article only a couple of weeks ago where they were comparing the flow of ITB's vs carbs. They were talking about the fact that although the total cfm for an 8 stack was more than a carb, each cylinder only has access to draw from one throttle body, where as on a carb each cylinder has access to the much larger carb throttle body. Apparently each cylinder could potentially flow more with a properly sized carb than ITB's due to the size difference. I'll try and find it, it was quite interesting.

I think you are under estimating your set up Luke, from memory a 45mm IDA Weber flows like 350 cfm, an ITB would have to flow more the only restriction is the the butterfly, most certainly your exhaust is an issue. If you dont want to lash out custom pipes Castle header do some 1-5/8 4 into 1 they will clear and XF falcon steering box. Think they are $800

They wouldn't run stack injection and Webers on race cars if they were better off with a holley

I have a mate with a Cobra that was running a beefy 347 with 45mm ITBs and when he went to a 363 he had to upgrade to 50mm.

Husky is right just because I have something like 2500cfm doesn't mean the same as two big 4 bbls.

I have the header trifecta of RHD, AOD, and RRS. I tried the 1 5/8 no name stainless shortys and they hit the steering arm. I am just trying to gird my loins to fork out for Doug's 669Y 1 3/4 mid length.

I will look into the Castle ones thanks.

This is hilarious!!!

The Castle CH-96 headers are identical to the Pacemaker 4010 except the pacemakers are 1 1/2.

Now someone else has ripped the Castle 1 5/8 ones off in stainless for $449 on the bay!!!!

They are all using exactly the same description!!!

They will clear the RRS steering but probably not the AOD.

Yeah agree its not comparable cfm for cfm, Even if you have to alter one side to clear the RRS rack still cheaper than $2500, which what i'll be spending on custom ones, thats your choice really
