Re: My 1969 mach 1 restomod project
I just love the speedflow fittings on the radiator hoses , etc etc. Doing the same with a fire breathing '67 coupe here in town.
(PRAYER) Oh thank you Wild Turkey American Honey & Cola in those small thin bottles, for giving me the strength to act like a half wit, and say stupid things at inappropriate times, semi-anonymously, on a public forum.
Amen.

I only just found this thread.
Wow !! You don't mind a bit of a challenge.
What final weight are you aiming for ?
Have you chosen the cam profile yet ?
Those heads deserve a decent stick.
Keep up the good work.

Re: My 1969 mach 1 restomod project
a shame to do so but I'm going to paint the outside of all 3 parts. The inside of the bootlid will remain carbon finish. I'm sure when I ordered the CF parts I asked for the bootlid to have gloss inside and satin outside. Nevermind... satin is ok inside.Nuts wrote:Sweet! Re: My 1969 mach 1 restomod project
I'm currently weighing all the CF and fibreglass parts and metals parts to compare... will post it all later... the kerb weight of the car was 1670kg for memory... i'm hoping for slightly lighter given that where I have added more weight for strength and accessories I have lightened other parts to compensate...xxxGT wrote:I only just found this thread.

I dug up these notes on the engine build:
Heads:CNC ported 'Yates C3L' with 209cc intake port. 7.5degree angle on the intake valves and 8degrees on the exhaust valve angle. 1.90:1 ratio Jesel shaft mounted rocker gear. Intake is an Edelbrock 351Y(cleveland) with 4500 pattern. Spacers were used.
Cam: 'Crow' solid Roller with 265 duration at 50-thou.'Danny-bee' timing belt.Pushrods are "Trend' 210-degree tip radii.
Bottom end:World man-o-war 460ci short motor. 'Eagle' forged crank and H-beam rods. 'JE' pistons at 10.5:1 compression.'Mellings' HV oil pump.
My engine builder was reluctant to give me info on the custom cam... I didnt get a whole lotta info on cam grind...
Another tickle resulted with 701hp@6800rpm. 508tq@4000rpm and stayed above 500lbs/ft until redline. Peak tq was 595@5000rpm. 409tq@2900rpm

Re: My 1969 mach 1 restomod project
Holy Shit, cant believe I missed this thread. What a beast. If you want the carbon fibre glossy under the boot you could 2k clear it. Awsome build, I cant wait to see it progress.
Re: My 1969 mach 1 restomod project
If you can keep your total weight to around 1680kgs with your CF gains you should be running a 10 flat over the 1/4 with 700hp.
That will be a wild ride.
After this time it must be getting very exciting seeing it come together.

Re: My 1969 mach 1 restomod project
I kinda figured that was about the times I'd get. I'll have to be good on the stickshifts. It is getting exciting now, I think I've finally stopped changing things and only moving forward. Unfortunately life gets in the way of this project alot. I gotta pick the car up from the fab shop on the 6th of january and pack it away in the shed until april. I'm having a jaw operation as part of the major dental work being done.Man are teeth expensive!!!!

I don't know what happened with these pics of the carbon fibre tailshaft. I've reloaded them again. Damn photobucket! Carbon fibre tailshaft(less than 4kg) with billet aluminium ends and 1350 uni joints. Billet aluminium uni girdles.

RRS brake upgrade. DBA 2 piece 345 rotors with 6 piston calipers. Rears are 315 with mini-6 piston calipers. I felt the PBR items weren't up to the task.
