I've done that and unfortunately it's his policy that he can't divulge any information from his clients' files.

I replied saying I didn't want him to reveal any names just say that he's certified them in the past.

Jesus christ, sounds like you have to go through a lot of crap to get your car on the road.

I picked up the car from the docks on the 21st, I did get to sit in it while the towie was lowering it in front of the workshop. I've yet to put my foot on that accelerator pedal.

You could engage him as the engineer. If the other bloke wont do it there is no point using him. Did you authorise your mechanic to consult an engineer on your behalf? If not then you shouldnt be stuck with him.

A big THANK YOU to muzz67. He shot over a scan of his documents showing TCP were certified by the RTA and the mechanic was happy.

I can now keep the front suspension.

Now onto the next hurdle (albeit a much smaller one) - the seat belts.

He peeled away some of the hoodlining and I did find the hole there. Placing my finger behind the hole it's quite high up in the rail and there isn't much room above behind it, the rail joins on to the roof skin just above the hole.

If I fit a plate there, the hole will be high up on the plate, a few mm from the top edge of the plate.

The hole also seems smaller than 7/16. One option suggested would be to enlarge the hole by drilling another hole slightly lower. It would be resemble an upside down keyhole shape. I've also seen a pic online of someone drilling another hole slightly lower and to the front and the two holes looked like a snowman so to speak.

Thoughts?

That hole will work.

Glad Sean (BossKraft) was able to link you up with Lance (muzz67). I was with Sean tonight & we discussed your car.

Thanks I feel flattered, all good I hope, lol.

I thanked Lance via email too. You guys saved me a lot of messing around, I should get my car finished sooner and of course it saved me some money.

It was such a battle getting the message through to them but the good thing now is a few more know TCP products have been certified here and hopefully save someone else the trouble I went through.

Yeah I've heard of the L02 compliance in Qld and every belt I've seen done there has the inertial reel in the panel with either a hole cut into the lower section with belt going straight up to the web ring or hole in upper panel with belt coming out horizontally so to speak, not sure if there is a ring in the panel holding it up or the reel is mounted up high.

I notice their colours are the same as Hemco's, probably the webbing is sourced from the same supplier.
