Pretty exciting getting her going. The diff axles might have something to do with the rubber lined guards ;-)
We have a template (don't we Nuts) for the rear seat panel and we used 1mm sheet to make ours. As the Big Mac was saying, use sikaflex and rivetts to hold it in place but do this toward the end as the access into the boot is pretty handy.

Take heaps of photos, keep plugging away and maintain the photos.

This weekend we pulled the rear brakes apart, found both cylinders seized, will get a couple of new ones locally.

Fitted new KYB front shocks, the old ones you could compress with one finger.

Cleaned all the brake parts up ready for reassembly, will sandpaper both the drums and brake linings before putting them back together as they are SHINY!

Removed the starter motor cord as it is ratshit and ready to short out on the body, get another one made up.

Would have liked to get rear shocks done too but need a good pair of stilsons to hold them whilst undoing the nuts on either end.

Nice progress.

Progress Update - New brake cylinders and handbrake cables in the rear, plenty of meat on the linings so a clean and "polish" with sandpaper to get rid of the shine.
Replaced the crown pinion seal, new lube and diff oil in - looks like the ratios are 2.80 so a cruzing we will go.
Have ordered new shock plates, engine mounts plus a few other bits which will arrive next week, the new shocks can go in then, will have to weld washers in the transfer? panel on top.
New steering wheel oiled and fitted.
It looks as though the stock 30w alternator has been removed and a later 55w fitted very badly, bending the dipstick to a point you could remove but not get it back in plus the belt alignment is out a full width - we cut off a couple of un needed screws on the back and rebent the dipstick to work, something to sort out over the next week. Fitted a new starter motor cable.

Now its off the jacks and driveable it's going to get the pan fixed and coated for rego, over the next week we'll be going through the electrics to sort out a few issues and fitting the new heater box - phew

Think you are right, thats what it looks like. But then the brackets wont reach would they? But then again are they the right brackets or are they in the correct holes? hard to tell by that pic.

It mounts to a 16mm hole in the head Lol

I will take more pics tmrw, there are other interesting issues to be looked at

that's for sure

I find the addition of a ballast resistor to be most intriguing.

Maybe rewired so the original (pink) ignition residence wire is not present or been by passed.

Update for this week:

Last month I removed the fan blower motor as it wasn't working at all, removed it and spent the next fortnight trying to get the grub screw out of the fan by daily WD40 with some heat at the end.
Found it was a 3 wire model with a manufacture date of 5th Oct 1964.
Cleaned it and sandpapered the contact and soldered new wires in, connected it up to the battery and it works in both speeds.


The heater core is in good condition but the plenum not so:

Does it bump steer at all, as the front brakes are Granada, or similar, not the best conversion, for an early car.

When I spoke to the previous owner she said that her husband had upgraded the brakes, the only difference I've seen is the front calipers.
Because its not registered yet, I've only had a couple of quick runs around the neighbourhood but not quick enough to notice any steering issues.
When its registered soonish, I'll keep an eye out for it.
Because its a budget build - I'm just trying to refurb the stock components and only replace what I have to, so far so good.

Update for this week:
Drained coolant and replaced both 16mm hoses on heater core, fitted new heater box and plenum.
New plugs and leads.
Thought I might have to replace top vent cowl as the vents were gone as are the wiper washer holes - whilst fitting heater found that hey had been bogged over, looks like a good sanding is in order.
Will still have to replace the round vents underneath though.
Have decided to hire car trailer to take it to workshop for floor repairs and to weld washers in for top of rear shocks to fit in instead of getting a permit from the RTA to drive it.
Busy doing other stuff this week, so won't be able to get much done but hoping the spray painter is coming out to give me a quote so we can make a start on it soon.
