You made your own caliper! That looks fantastic. I want to see your shed.

And where do you get a caliper tested? We have enough trouble down here convincing the rego people that they came with disc brakes letalone dropping the bombshell that the caliper is home made.

Will the alloy have enough strength across that length to resist 'bulging'?

Can't wait for your car to be sitting along side The black Mach Vadar sometime later in the year at Lakeside Lee.

Hi AuJacko
I have done absolute shit loads of research before making these regarding requirements and specifications. luckily I have a brake company here in Brisbane that have been extremely helpful and informative, they have a machine to test the clamping pressure, and then beyond to see at what point the caliper will fail, which hopefully should well exceed the clamp pressure.
I've made this from 6061 grade aluminium which is the same grade as say the wilwood calipers, even Brembos are only cast aluminium.
6061 is quite a durable and stable grade of aluminium so we should be all good.
I guess if they do fail I'll be starting another rebuild thread :rotfl:

after hooking up all the front suspension we test fitted the new wheels to check clearances etc. And just my luck one of the front wheels has the bloody wrong hole pattern. What an absolute bitch. Bought these from the states last year so we'll see if they will exchange it or not.

Great progress Lee, good to see the wheels on.

How much do you have to "massage" the Guards?
