Well this weekend was spent sorting out a few minor things for the pending RWC

checked and adjusted the brakes, tightend up the exhust brackets, sorted out the interior lights. just need to get the fan demister working seems some parts are missing like the vent pipes and cant seem to get the fan to come on - brought a little circut tester today and will give that a go after l check to see if the fuse has'nt blown.

all good and havin plenty of fun!!

Moe,

Seems the “Def” cable is also missing, the heat cable and temp cable are there and now moving smoothly with the help of some CRC.

My concern is that I think I’m going to need to get the fan working and blowing air up on the windscreen as part of the RWC inspection.

I will need this fixed anyway, so no big deal just a pain because I’m not that savvy on electrics.

Other than this, I’m just about good to go for the LO2 and RWC – then rego

Yahoooooo!!

Yes the fan will have to work for rego as it is part of the demister.

I would say that if the wires are connected & fuse is not blown, then the motor is cactus. Quick way to tell is to hook up power direct & see if the motor turns (if the smoke is let out then it is broken).

If motor is bad, then it is heater pull out time. May as well get a core & heater rebuild kit. Good way to spend a couple of evenings. You can install the cables at the same time & also fit new heater hoses.

Yep - I think so Kerry,

I will try and connect the blower motor directly to power tonight.

Hey would I be correct in assuming the heater box is held in by the 4 bolts around the blower motor on the fire wall or are there other bolts under the dash as well??

A 5th nut is found in the center of the firewall (same as the nuts around the blower motor) & bolt is found near the intake vent under the dash.

Kerry,

It got the better of me - as I'm working from home today with a gut bug,

Just ran two wires to the motor and hey prestow it works, so the motor is fine.

Just need to check the fuse and the rest of the wiring to the motor and get the duct tube from the blower outlet to the demister dash vent.

One day, I might make a good sparky ---- but not anytime soon ..me thinks!!

Ok ..today’s effort!!........got to love public holidays hey!!

Well the interior fan is all fixed now, it was a couple of things wrong: one was the fuse box is a but crusty rusty so it needed a good clean up and the switch was not earthed that well to the panel – just need to get new vent tubes and plenum box ….so all good.

Also fixed:
1. The cigarette lighter positive wire had broken off so it’s also fixed now......not that i smoke anymore, but it will come in handy for the GPS to plug in.
2. Found that the bakerlight circuit breaker holder to the starter relay had crumbled away over time so replaced it also.
3. fog lights now wired up and all working well.

Just for good measure after all that, I scrubbed up the checkered boot mat and tool pouches!

Now just getting a mate over on Friday to adjust the brakes and do a full service then off to get LO2 and roadworthy next Monday ………….yahooooooooooo!!

Nice work! Good to see you're getting your hands dirty. Something that it's good to do regularly on these old beasts.
