Ziggy - great name. Start singing some bowie. Have fun training and spending the life together.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

That is what I first thought when I saw the name Ziggy. Brilliant name for a new best friend ........boofhead wrote:Ziggy - great name. Start singing some bowie.

I will leave the singing to her I think.
Re: 56 effie.. FnL
You should come over on our Asia jaunts & get your confidence up, as we do a lot of singing. Individually not so good, but collectively (& drunk) we are brilliant .......nassi wrote:I will leave the singing to her I think.

By singing you mean........?
"The simple answer is, even if I have decided I still don't know what to do."
Re: 56 effie.. FnL
Brilliantly crafted llyics in great melodies. Yes we are good, ask Boof, Mike or Steve ........cage wrote:By singing you mean........?

I think Steve is the best - he really belts out the songs when the audio is turned up.

Well not really progress, but another panel ready for body work.
At this rate I might be finished in another lifetime, certainly not this one.
When I had the chassis work done, the guy set the engine at an angle i.e. the RHS of the engine is further forward than the LHS. I assume he did this as my diff centre is to the RHS of centre in the chassis. From my trigonometry this means that the tailshaft will leave the gearbox at an angle of about 1.15 degrees.
Is this likely to cause a vibration at revs?

Re: 56 effie.. FnL
Possibly. As the driveshaft rotates, it actually oscillates, so having an angle to begin with, usually magnifies the issue.
Reality, probably a "suck it & see" ........

I thought that if the angles were the same, front and back it was good. I just don't know how much tolerance there is.ozbilt wrote:Possibly. As the driveshaft rotates, it actually oscillates, so having an angle to begin with, usually magnifies the issue.

I will have to do some work on the diff to alter the pinion angle but that is OK, its just this other angle that bothers me.
Re: 56 effie.. FnL
That's interesting Nassi. I suppose from a maths point of view you would want the tail shaft to be perpendicular to both the diff centre and gearbox unless there is some mechanism at either end that counts for the off centre.
How was it done stock, back in the day, with an off centre diff.

Re: 56 effie.. FnL
I have a feeling my diff may be from a 4wd so the transfer case would have probably had an off centre output.
The original diff was about 23mm off centre, the 9 inch is about 50mm off centre.
I have no idea how the original motor gearbox sat as they are long gone.

Well, bugger all to report but considering the guff in a few other threads I thought I should chirp in.
Opened the shed today (beer is in there), and bugger me. There bold as brass was a bloody 56 F100, now as I always wanted one I thought I really should do something with it but as luck would have it I found the beer instead.
Maybe next week.....
