Re: Just bought my dream car - Work has started....
Update for this week:
Drained coolant and replaced both 16mm hoses on heater core, fitted new heater box and plenum.
New plugs and leads.
Thought I might have to replace top vent cowl as the vents were gone as are the wiper washer holes - whilst fitting heater found that hey had been bogged over, looks like a good sanding is in order.
Will still have to replace the round vents underneath though.
Have decided to hire car trailer to take it to workshop for floor repairs and to weld washers in for top of rear shocks to fit in instead of getting a permit from the RTA to drive it.
Busy doing other stuff this week, so won't be able to get much done but hoping the spray painter is coming out to give me a quote so we can make a start on it soon.
Cheers

Re: Astroboy's 65 coupe build - update...
Well - we've been stripping like mad since friday night...
Not too many surprises - an interesting one at the end....
Screens out now...
What type of animal has been living here?
Overall minimal rust..
Only nasty surprise was the gas axe cutting in the tunnel...
The new floorpan, bonnet, front guards and whole doors were ordered last thurs and were in stock, so expecting delivery before the weekend.
Took the dash pad out to find the original one underneath with some padding in between.
All thats left is to clear out the old wiring and dash, then book it in for blasting...
Cheers John

arrrr ..... but to skinny and not tall enough for a 351. In any case, your 289 is looking the goods. It will look great once the front cover, water pump and intake are actually all bolted up.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

Re: Astros 65 coupe build - update...
Project is moving forward again - floorpan is in, I can now bolt the sheetmetal in place and fill the interior with the parts I have gathered over the past 16 months and trailer it up to ShaunP's garage.
Apologies for the photos - late night last night, forgot to turn the flash on

Plus a shot of the JBA headers I bought back from the states.

I'll put everything together on the car trailer and await Shaun's call
Cheers

Re: Astros 65 coupe build - update...
The guys are going to the US on Friday for about 3 weeks, should have the Trans-am in high build primer next week, before they go at least that's the plan, along with QLD mustang spares 56 F100. Soon as Gavin is back the Tran-am should be painted with in a couple of weeks hopefully. You can bring your car as soon as this car is gone.
